Kola too hard?
what are your thoughts about that map. personnally i'm mitigated. i think deep Russia has certainly harsh areas for trucks. but i'm not enjoying Kola as much as i did with MI, or AK. it's not a question of difficulty, it'sa game balance question. it's like you know, everything you did there was going to put you in great danger. i don't how to describe it. what are you thoughts

Lake Kovd is kind of easy (not really) when you learn the map, how to navigate it, where is the thin ice. Imandra has been a bit painful but that wasn't too bad honestly. I think this region is a 6.5/10. Worth the money, but not really much

Are you trying to say the map is artificially difficult? Oh boy, wait til you play Amur if you own the DLC. Kola is okay, really - it does have some areas your truck just will get stuck, no matter what. It's mostly like - go the longer but safer way, or go the shorter but harder way.

I played both, Amur is, roughly, stupid. Kola isn't really that hard, especially Kovd. I really enjoyed having to drive on lots of ice and thin ice. Imandra is slightly hard, but nothing too much, I enjoyed the obstacles and deep snow

I finished kola, and as they say, it's not that difficult when you learn which trucks go better on real snowy maps (not like alaska) and where to go, but honestly I found it boring as hell, I would never repeat that map. It is a dlc that I do not recommend at all if it were not because Ford is a very good vehicle.
I don't like snow maps, I don't like dealing with snow in this game, it's pathetic how vehicles interact with it, but with mud regardless of its depth/difficulty. I feel satisfaction when overcoming muddy areas but boredom when overcoming snow.
Also in kolv you need too many hours to complete anything, it's not fun, I don't care if they pay me well. The same thing happens with amur, I can't finish it and not because of difficulty, it's because of boredom and laziness. There is no mud that can stop a caterpillar/antartic or now the new zik, but in the snow all of these fall, checked. You can only avoid the virgin and deep snow (the one that shows a blue color when you pass over it), there is no other option.

i own good trucks. i have the Azov 64131, the tatra 813. and i scout with the yar, and the tatra 805. all fully equipped of course. but it seems traps are everywhere there. the junction of Kovd to imandra is or a deep snow (village), or frozen swamps, or a cliff. most of imandra roads are just a bunch of big rocks. only relatively planes and easy areas, are the beaches which are full of big rocks. where even biggest trucks get stuck on.
i play the series since the beginning, and i know sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves, and go for it. but man, in Kola there's just no road there lol
Michigan and Alaska were fun. there were dangerous passes, but it was always more or less doable. if you go slow, watch carefully you should do it. but Kola i don't find it very realistic. too many risks, too often. it's not an offroad game, it's a cargo transport offroad game. that supposes there is a minimum of roads even in bad shape. personnally when i purchased that game (on another shop) i was expecting an improved spintires. hear delivering cargoes in harsh conditions. but i wasn't looking for a jeep 90° sim x)
maybe i missed something. i'll keep exploring that map :)
however thanks for pointing out amur. i will do it in last

Yes, as I told you, I don't like my kolv, it takes too much time, there are many dangers and it provides little satisfaction, but well that's my opinion. Many people positively analyze kolv and negatively badger lake which for me is one of the best without a doubt, for color tastes. As you say, roll up your sleeves, and go for it. a greeting

I did Kola Penninsula fine, I mostly used the ANK, White Western Star and Chevy Apache

But Yea it does take a bit longer to get around cause of how thick the snow is and soft ice spots everywhere, and you have to setup fuel trailers while getting around

I thought Kola was a huge challenge and then I started Amur. Amur makes Kola look like a Sunday drive. I didn't finish all the contracts and tasks on any of the maps, preferring to hunt down trucks and upgrades first. Now that I'm on Amur I'm just going to keep grinding it until I finish it. I figure, when I finish Amur the rest will be cake, including Kola.
When you get to Imandra, or if you're already there, it can be frustrating at first but after repeating the same routes over and over you get used to it and it doesn't seem so daunting. Getting the garage going is a big puzzle at first because no tasks will tell you that you get rewarded with garage access. It's a task behind a task.

yeah i followed the advice above of not searching the shortcuts, and it did a bit better. if you know the map perfectly it should probably help a lot. the thing is the map is big. and testing is painful. especially at imandra.
i went back to kovd. will make few missions there, then probably move on. and do like you said small bits by small bits. i didn't bother myself with the garage quests. i checked an online guide. i can't stay a whole day playing. every mission on imandra is minimum 2 hours. and can even take a whole afternoon for some. so when i get bored i skip. guides, or fast recovery. i put a point of honor to not fast recovery at MI, and AK and believe it or not i fast recovered only 1 or 2 there. only situations i recovered there were when there weren't in game counterparts to IRL like chainsaws lol. i remember i recovered a really nasty situation at AK. where i recovered a truck with all its load that was badly stuck. But i did it
but regarding Kola, i have more frustrations than fun, especially at imandra. the map is beautiful though. But it's like there were only traps you know :steamsad:

lol I am doing it the same way, exploring maps, side missions, upgrades and vehicles first, and then doing contracts

a couple contracts does have to be done to get some of the russia maps unlocked though

while browsing the net i discovered two things. trucks with huge tires seems more comfortable on rocky areas. sadly i don't have them unlocked yet. i tried the kolob, but too slow, and two big. and also something interesting, the cement bridges of imandra are moveable. at least the small ones. didn't try with the big. not sure it'll make a real difference. but interesting

KOLA is easy amur is hard but if you get at first zikz 605r its very easy get that truck. WITHOUT any mods I NEVER play with mods. And for clam that truck I use only tayga voron grad and paystar and last thing was tuz tatarin and tith this - you can build bridges veery easy and open that gate.

it's time consuming 4 to 6h if you know what are you doing.

I unlocked zikz right at the beginning of my adventure with the game while i was in Michigen, but I relied on the guide of the guy who did it on hardmode and it was a very good guide, everything else that I found ran around in some way, or was made on mods.

all you really need is tayga, it is worth having a catterpilar for one of the task.
when I started i was on level 6 and that's where I unlocked the chains etc, I did it with practically stock vehicles.

yeah i'm doing taymir to unlock the tayga. also bought a voron there. but need to find the improvement to rise the suspension of it (pls don't tell where it is). also i'm not far from the antartica. unlock at 26, right now almost 24. with these big wheels, i'm pretty sure kola will be much easier. and taymir is pretty fun actually. at least the first part

Every map is ok except some places which are broken / badly designed. I found place on Northern Aegis Installation which has f**ked up rocks that don't allow Zikz 605r to pass. Thanks to that I lost hour of gameplay !!! Stupid design desicions ruin overall experience for me. Lake Kovd is perfect for taking photos, so lovely ;D
