I don't like snow maps, I don't like dealing with snow in this game, it's pathetic how vehicles interact with it, but with mud regardless of its depth/difficulty. I feel satisfaction when overcoming muddy areas but boredom when overcoming snow.
Also in kolv you need too many hours to complete anything, it's not fun, I don't care if they pay me well. The same thing happens with amur, I can't finish it and not because of difficulty, it's because of boredom and laziness. There is no mud that can stop a caterpillar/antartic or now the new zik, but in the snow all of these fall, checked. You can only avoid the virgin and deep snow (the one that shows a blue color when you pass over it), there is no other option.
i play the series since the beginning, and i know sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves, and go for it. but man, in Kola there's just no road there lol
Michigan and Alaska were fun. there were dangerous passes, but it was always more or less doable. if you go slow, watch carefully you should do it. but Kola i don't find it very realistic. too many risks, too often. it's not an offroad game, it's a cargo transport offroad game. that supposes there is a minimum of roads even in bad shape. personnally when i purchased that game (on another shop) i was expecting an improved spintires. hear delivering cargoes in harsh conditions. but i wasn't looking for a jeep 90° sim x)
maybe i missed something. i'll keep exploring that map :)
however thanks for pointing out amur. i will do it in last
But Yea it does take a bit longer to get around cause of how thick the snow is and soft ice spots everywhere, and you have to setup fuel trailers while getting around
When you get to Imandra, or if you're already there, it can be frustrating at first but after repeating the same routes over and over you get used to it and it doesn't seem so daunting. Getting the garage going is a big puzzle at first because no tasks will tell you that you get rewarded with garage access. It's a task behind a task.
i went back to kovd. will make few missions there, then probably move on. and do like you said small bits by small bits. i didn't bother myself with the garage quests. i checked an online guide. i can't stay a whole day playing. every mission on imandra is minimum 2 hours. and can even take a whole afternoon for some. so when i get bored i skip. guides, or fast recovery. i put a point of honor to not fast recovery at MI, and AK and believe it or not i fast recovered only 1 or 2 there. only situations i recovered there were when there weren't in game counterparts to IRL like chainsaws lol. i remember i recovered a really nasty situation at AK. where i recovered a truck with all its load that was badly stuck. But i did it
but regarding Kola, i have more frustrations than fun, especially at imandra. the map is beautiful though. But it's like there were only traps you know
lol I am doing it the same way, exploring maps, side missions, upgrades and vehicles first, and then doing contracts
a couple contracts does have to be done to get some of the russia maps unlocked though
it's time consuming 4 to 6h if you know what are you doing.
I unlocked zikz right at the beginning of my adventure with the game while i was in Michigen, but I relied on the guide of the guy who did it on hardmode and it was a very good guide, everything else that I found ran around in some way, or was made on mods.
all you really need is tayga, it is worth having a catterpilar for one of the task.
when I started i was on level 6 and that's where I unlocked the chains etc, I did it with practically stock vehicles.
