Not a Drill
I have been over 6 hours on this damn mission, the last part where you have to deliver the construction rig semi trailer. Already had to restart the whole thing 3 times because of it getting hopelessly stuck. On my 4th attempt now and the damn thing is stuck on the final little climb before the wooden bridge east of the drilling site. Is it just not possible without off-road tires or DLC trucks? Honestly I'm about to uninstall this game because it has been anything but fun and I feel my whole day is wasted...

Use the Pacific P16 parked up in Drummond Island.

While that is one of the hardest missions in Michigan (and you get to do the same basic thing in another part of the region, with totally different challenges), lemme tell ya: get used to this.
Snowrunner is not a game you relax for fifteen minutes with. It's a game you swear and curse with frustration for hours with.

The silver lining: You don't have to complete everything in one region before you move on to another. Once you get some trucks with *mud* tires, AWD and permanently locked differentials, the Not A Drill mission gets way easier. Especially if you're buying things like Kolobs and Azovs.

This mission predates all DLC. I remember playing it before season 1 released. I assure you it can be done without DLC.

I seem to recall getting to the drilling site by going through the sawmill and across the small water crossing.

But maybe wait a while - do some missions in Smithfileld Dam and Drummond Island to get more experience points and access to more upgrades and better tyres.

Lol I managed to pull the trailer to the drilling site and now it's stuck in the mud less than 10 meters away from the dropoff zone, can't pull it any further and nothing to winch to. Guess I explore other areas till I unlock more upgrades or find that Pacific P16!

Use a heavy truck (the P16 suggested above will get this job done, or you could also use a P12) and then cross the river for the most immediate route. It involves mud but any Pacific will do it without trouble. I'm guessing that you probably tried to go back to the highway, then attempted to take the S-shaped road downhill to then cross the wooden bridge to get to the island? That place is going to get you stuck, it's a trap.

Either use the river crossing, or take the very long highway route to avoid all the "traps".

You don't need trucks with always-on diff lock and awd to get anything done anywhere. You just need to know WHEN and WHY to manually engage your locking differentials, when to choose which gears, how to read the terrain, and how to pick routes. Take the time to inspect the routes closely and learn the surface types. It's also much easier to do if you're using trucks that have fewer axles and toggle AWD/diff locks instead of always-on, because you can feel and see how the terrain affects that particular truck whereas the ones you mentioned just make you numb to it and prevent you from learning. This is the bit that you need to commit to memory. It's going to make things initially more difficult while you compile everything, but afterward it'll all become easier and you'll see why you don't need an Azov/Kolob/Zikz for anything.

You can even do the river crossing with that trailer while using trucks that don't have AWD or with trucks that don't have locking differentials (and without winching). The most important thing for handling that trailer, is to get something suitable for the cargo mass that you will be pulling and with tires more specialized than all-terrain.

I did all that back when i was new to the game and did struggle but its just easier now to go to dlc regions grab a truck i know already has always on diff/awd just to get into the missions quicker with each new playthrough i do

For high saddle in michigan, use P16 (use upgrade engine you find in Michigan), no need DLC and P16 already have one of the best off-road tires when you found it

You can find P16 ready to go in Drummond Island Southeast area, upgrade engine in center north area in there too

Explore the maps first with scout or any truck you like, then do the mission to make it easier, found truck, upgrade, best route, and mission to fix route

You will need either the p16 or mudtires to do this without struggle. But I have done it with a Western Star 57X with aero skirts.

I done it with the Catepillar 681 you get for free from Anniversary DLC you only need add the offroad tires, this truck has S+ power at start and its able to move the trailer without any problem or i think the International HX520 from same DLC would be on offroad tires able move the trailer too as its A+ power truck.

Yeah that's the road I took on my latest attempt and I actually got through it and am on the island, but the trailer is now stuck less than 10m away from the dropoff point, I can't pull it any further in the mud.

I tried the river crossing on a previous attempt but it was a lost cause. FYI I only have Fleetstar and White Western Star, no offroad or mud tires yet. I'm definitely gonna need better equipment.

Might be able to use your other truck to winch assist the stuck one. Take it around the perimeter of the drill site on the grass and approach from the west of the delivery zone, get in close enough to throw a line across and with both trucks powered up it may move.

Not sure what route you are taking, I do it here with an Azov..

Just parked 1 truck close to the bridge. Just ready for towing. Or rescue mission. No need to use only 1 truck. U can put any truck on any place.
