Before getting the Zikz605R I did almost everything with those 2 Azov trucks.
For the ice road parts of the map its probably easier to use chain-tired trucks as tow engines.
Apart from the Zikr for heavy mud/snow/ice I mainly used the Vorons and Taiga trucks
Azov 7 (Chained) and Zikz (Mud) towing each other. It is working pretty good. Now I just need to get to CHERNOKAMENSK to get the active suspension for the Azov 7 as it's suppose to raise it some.
I can now see the entrance Chernokamensk, but I have to leave for a job. Hopefully I can get the active suspension upgrade this evening.
I see you have it figured out, that's the key: Use 2 trucks; one with Chains and the other with Mud Tires. 😉
Use Tatarin to explore the map and find the short cuts heavy trucks can pass by. Map is actuality not that hard once you learn it, although it is slow and fuel consuming due to snow thickness.
I rationalised this by thinking that if this was real life then truckers working in such sparsely populated and harsh remote areas would never go out alone. There is someone in the towed truck - you just can see them!
I came and went to Amur a couple of times - skipped forward to the next map when I got tired of the grind in Amur. Came back and finished it eventually. I play in easy mode and never co-op.
Such maps have 1 rule : only use roads when they are NOT trapped. Use solid ( shiny dark blue ) ice as roads as much as possible. Look for solid ground or otherwise better driveable routes away from roads. In Amur and likewise maps it is better to go through a swamp then try to use the road through it.
Very large wheel vehicles have an advantage going over concrete panels that wreck smaller wheeled vehicle wheels as well. Still have to crawl over them. Also giving vehicles a lift upgrade makes sense when you have to pass the large boulders on shorelines to get to the ice. But using lift raises your center of gravity and they will roll more readily as a result. So don't use these on tilting roads.
Originally we did not have "OP" DLC trucks with very large 8x8 or even more wheels but now these are available, these maps become less extreme.
I don't plan on buying any more seasons. As it is, my buddies talked me into buying Season 1 so we could play together, then they got bored with it after a month and moved on.
I always forget about that CAT. I know it's a good rescue vehicle and medium log hauler. But I use it so little that I forget about it, until after the fact. LOL
I'm not surprised, your buddies got bored ;-) It's a shame they made Season 4 so boring. I guess thay trying to make it "difficult" but the result was poor. It seams they learned a lesson from it, bacause seasons seasons 10 and 11 are really great.
