I think it has something to do with the game rating, but honestly there's no excuse not to have it. I remember when Mudrunner was released and one of the selling points was added voice chat that Spintires didn't have.

If they don't add chat, at least add some sort of radial menu with pre-selected quotes like "Help with objective" or "I'm stuck". Literally anything would be better than what we have now.

It would also be nice to have a list of active lobbies instead of just getting dumped into a random game.

Man, I just started playing this yesterday and had randos joining that were somewhere on the map and I had no way of communicating. I think that the second you leave out basic text chat, then it should be marked as a SP game. Without communication, there can be no cooperation.
