It is recommended that you first grab a Scout and open up all Watch Towers. This will open up locations of Upgrades and other useful things.
At the earliest opportunity, upgrade your Tires every chance you get until you have obtained the Best Tire for each class of truck. Tires make all the difference in the world and you can resell the ones you no longer need for full price refund.
Once you have upgraded tires you will be able to get around much better. Another key point to remember, is that the Longer Route is normally the Best Route. Short cuts, though they look mighty tempting to try, will usually result in some unfortunate event and take much longer.
On the flip side, they also make for an exciting adventure. ;-)
Happy trucking, and good luck!
Once you start getting unlocks the game becomes easier, then harder again once you get to the later regions. Don't forget that fundamentally, this is a logistics/driving/physics game. If that's not your kind of game, I wouldn't force it.
Second day : Took the 1500 out and got all the towers (first map) & the upgrade spots i could get to.. Sold the GMC 9500 for around 32'ish K, along with the money made along the way doing simple jobs had enough to upgrade the C70 (I think It's the c70, the one in the yard, in the starting garage)..
Was able to do a few farm runs w/ C70 until we had enough to buy a larger truck..
starting out sucks, I felt the 'i hate this game' then figured id sell everything i don't need (truck/trailers) and upgrade.. now thriving, with over 100K in back on 3rd day of grinding and reading to expand..
Dont give up.. push thru..
Then cleared road blocks and they weren't easy using street tires on my big trucks.
Finally just grinded the delivery mission until level 8 and put off road tires on my big trucks. Now I don't have many issues.
Like I said on some other threads - sell some of your free trucks and get the ANK 38 Civilian. It comes with off-road tires, and will rarely, if at all, get stuck anywhere in Michigan.
ANK 38 Civ is a better truck than the Tatra, as it can move much faster.
Edit: comes with off-road tires, not mud in stock version. But the results are still the same. It made the early game playable for me. The reason others are not recommending it is because it is not discoverable for free in game, and it was released relatively recently so does not show up on youtube videos or other guides on the internet.
I'm over it. I just had to rage me and my buddies played for hours today doing missions. Took us hours to do the log delivery with us being new but we did it. A lot of fun.
also if you have the premium version the bandit truck becomes amazing with off road tyres
You had a problem, and you solved it.
A true offroad trucker.
(Bugs are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tho, losing due to those is extra awful, but thankfully they are rare, usually its missing cargo that youre suppose to pick up with cranes.)
So glad to hear you got over the hump as we all did in the beginning. It was tough, it was frustrating, but we all remember it and we all went through the exact same thing.
Keep on trucking!
And I am saying that all from the perspective of someone who has played through the early game 4 times now and I always stay away from using the free vehicles they put in your garage from all the DLC until later in the game because of how they ruin the early game progression. But to each their own.
guys dont hate me but:
all trucks are slow as "i dont know" : a cat 745c f.e. coming to a very little mud area or hill and get down to 2-5 km/h ?!?!?! srly? this beast reaches 60km/h and has over 500 horse power, his tires are near 2 meters high and this game will tell me a little puddle will slow it down? :D
next example: alll trucks are slow, but when u are on a street and drive more than 25 km/h the truck begin to fly, u cannot control it anymore.
i will not talk about the frustrating shifting!
where is the point in all this, just to stretch the game out?
i 50/50 like the game and i would enjoy it if there wasnt this poorly physics.
@Dear Op.
u will learn the game better and get better trucks, but u will get missions where i bet u will quit the game (f.e. logging in michi)
if u wanna continue:
go michigan to drummong island and take the "p16" truck and Michigan, the second map and take the "White Western Star 4964" , so ur early frustration will get better.
We actually completed a logging mission on co op in Michigan. It took us like 3 hours.
