Which truck should I buy next ?

I did all the missions I could in Black River, except the ones requiring to go through water because none of my trucks can do that. So I went to the dam and started exploring, got the Western Star but I don't have the AWD upgrade yet.

I don't know if I should buy a heavy truck or an offroad truck. There are a lot of missions in the water here, which one is best suited for that ? Gonna need to pul vehicles and trailers out of the water in Black River, and get some cargo like fuel and concrete in the water with a crane.

I sold the GMC and the Fleetstar. Use that money, plus any extra you've earned, and buy the Paystar in offroad. Trust me, you'll thank me later. That truck makes the frustrating parts of Michigan and even Alaska into a lot less frustration.

Are you set on completing all Michigan maps first?

If not, you could try Alaska and get a certain powerhouse for free, provided that you can rescue and repair it. It's not going to be easy, because there's water and treacherous slopes, but it's well worth the effort.

I double down on the Paystar suggestion.
Not the best truck in the game by any mean, but an excellent starter truck!

The P16 can be found in Michigan and can do alright in the water.

Never was a fan of the Paystar like others here. I went to Taymyr and bought the Azov 64131 first (yes I could of rescued the Tayga 6436 first but I don't like it either, so I sold it too). Yes it's slower, and turns a bit wider, than the Tayga 6436, but it's not a speed run for missions anyhow, it's all about the destination, whether you get there in two minutes (most OP mod trucks) or ten minutes (64131) it's all the same.

Is there something wrong with the ANK Civilian ? It's more powerful than the Paystar but there is no "compatibility" button on the store screen. Can't I change the frame add-on on this one ? What is it used for ?

Also the Paystar seems to have highway tires out of the box, isn't that a handicap ? I can't buy offroad tires yet for trucks.

I'm only rank 6 btw, and I don't have the DLCs, playing on game pass.

Most of the trucks can go through water if they have a tall snorkel, and maybe a tall exhaust. Don't take much notice of 'water damages the engine' warnings - it's not terminal. In Black River it's the muddy swamps that are the problem as I recall - but some good winching - well - lots of good winching - overcomes that usually. I think at least one of the stuck trucks becomes yours (truck is available for purchase) when you get near it - just change trucks and recover.

Jam your towing truck behind a tree, winch the stuck truck out a bit, detach the winch, move to another tree and repeat.

Not as such, but it's a bit more tippy than other trucks, and it chews through its small fuel tank super-quickly.
Also, for towing it tends to be too powerful (it'll spin tires and dig in itself).

The best thing about getting the Paystar is that you can buy a decent set of tires for it technically before you open up the others with exp. After you buy the truck you can buy that set of tires for it right away. They are better than anything you'll find early game.

I bought the Paystar and the best tires were Allterrain. I also added an extented winch and tried to pull a truck out of the mud ( north of the garage in black river ). I got stuck immediately with no way to get to shore, had to send my Fleetstar ( which has offroad tires now, I'm rank 8 ), and it pulled both trucks out of the mud.

I sold the Paystar and upgrades, it doesn't seem better than my Fleetstar ( S rating in power-to-weight ) or Western Star. Maybe later with better upgrades, but I really don't understand why it's an "offroad" truck that comes without offroad tires, is the same size as the Western Star and samey stats.

Well, although you never gave the Paystar a fair chance, I was trying to recommend you a truck you could get that wouldn't make the game too easy at the beginning. I've even heard it said the Paystar makes it too easy. If you really want a truck that can make a huge difference that is available at level 1 you need to go to Russia. Buy the Azov 64131. well, if you're looking to plow through contracts, and don't mind not being in a hurry. I would suggest the Tatra 813, there is no loading crane, but it is 8 wheel and doesn't get stuck easily 100 Ga. fuel cell, spare fuel, and repair points. not the best, or fastest truck in the game but she's steady, solid, and dependable. another one i think is a fun little chugger is the Aceton out of Lake Kovd, it is sitting in a camp on the middle eastern side of the map if i remember right

The offorad paystar is a good american offroader, just dont put raised suspension and it will be great.

The azov 64xxx is a good truck, but without upgrades it is terribly slow, you need the advanced special and best motor for it so it does work properly.
In average the offroad paystar is better i think, if you can max out the azov 6 with gearbox and motor, get that one.
In casual mode, you can sell everything for same price you bought it, so just buy a truck and try it, if you dont like it, sell it for same price and get another.
