Hard Mode Money
Has anyone got really far in hard mode? I'm wondering how bad the money situation is. Trucks are really expensive and since you can't repeat quests there is a limited amount of money you can get in the game. I'm wondering how stingy I need to be with my money. I'm worried about running out long before I could finish all the maps.

To my understanding you have to plan very carefully when it comes to hardmode, it is not the gamemode where you will buying and upgrading every truck in the game. the limited challenges are what really make hardmode difficult since money will eventually run out

Can you just coop on someone else's map if you need more money?

you could, but the percentage of people playing HM v normal is a big difference. but if you can find one then by all means thats the only way to exploit money per say lol

My save is in hard mode, money is harder to get but it doesn't cripple you if you play it correct. Plus some of the trucks you find you can sell once you tow them back to your garage if you need a cash boost if you have no interest in using them.

Manual loading of loads also helps, 150 credits to auto load doesn't sound much but after a while it soon eats into your balance. Especially in the early game as money is harder to get in Michigan (assuming you complete the maps in order).

If you do not throw money away all the time, cash is not exactly hard to come by in HM.

I play a little bit on "role-play" side of things without excessively buying trucks and mostly stick to regional (US/RUS) vehicles, selling ones I do not like or use, salvaging fuel (sometimes there's a plenty, I think I had 3-4 full fuel semies parked next to garage after completing Alaska) and so forth. Though if you do logs you HAVE to waste 14k per region to buy long log trailer, that's for sure =)

All in all, after just completing Wisconsin (going in default region order) I sit on ~1,6m in cash at the moment. And that is my very first playthrough, with mistakes and various "OMG I should have known that before" moments.

Playing multiplayer can definitely be a booster as every player involved gets full mission reward (with exception for challenges).

To conclude: if you play just a little smart it's really difficult to run out of cash. But HM teachs you to be a bit creative =)

ps: if chaotic active hours do not scary you, feel free to ping for HM multiplayer ^.^

Go for it. It's well worth it despite some game engine shortcoming (frustrating at time for sure). And it's only hard, not nightmare or insane mode =)

Make use of the free fuel found on the maps and only buy gas at the cheapest stations, it gives you an early boost to your economy so you can sooner spend money on upgrades to be more efficient. I’m on Kola atm, and have unlocked quite a lot of good trucks and upgrades after the Michigan and Alaska maps.
