Does this game work well with a steering wheel?

I have been reading all types of mixed reviews about this, especially about moving the camera while driving... I have a G29 no shift stick.

all the trucks are automatic so you don't need the stick shift, should be fine

I have a G29 and it works great! I don't mind using the mouse to occasionally look around while in 3rd person.

There is a ton of feedback in the wheel, I'm just hoping it doesn't prematurely wear out the gears for the force feedback.

Even if you decide not to use a wheel I recommend switching your controller mode to "wheel" to get more linear steering. Using any wheel is highly recommended, and I've also played with a g27.

no it doesnt, no multi input support. yes you might be able to steer with wheel but the controller support on this game is really crap

y devs really dropped the ball on the wheel and stick. the game is mostly for the console audience and dont expect a patch or anything for wheel, the game is almost 2 years old

DLC is still being made for it though, Season 7 and 8 aren't out yet, more fixes might make it into the update patches for those

In my experience hell no, my G920 freaks out every 5 minutes and locks up. Literally have driven off of cliffs because of it. Hopefully you have a a better experience than me.

This is the actual issue. The g27 I use is an all in one USB device. Wheel,pedals,stickshift, but detects as one device. Looks like my original advice to use ANY wheel (below) is inaccurate.

If you need a workaround I suggest a steam controller gyro if you have that controller laying around. Or you could re-assign your wheel functions within the steam overlay, and emulate a single xbox controller. I still suggest turning control type to "wheel" to get away from accumulation steering used for WASD. I can't even enjoy using a dual analog stick controller without changing that setting.

I have a G27 with the shifter and it works well. Now, I do miss the actual full manual gearbox of spintire and mudrunner but, by assigning specific gears on the shifter, it does give you a feel of being more in control. Overall, not bad with the G27, response is good. My only thing will be that you cannot change the setting of automatic brake reverse even by messing into the controls.

I agree Ghost, I've gotten in the habit of tapping the E-brake when I stop on a hill for that same reason.

The wheel selection menu doesn't give an option to use a G27 , the only thing close enough to use is a G29 , and I think thats what I was selecting when it did work . Also which Logitec setting should I use ? the legacy or the other one ? Also all of the Key commands like ENTER etc are changed and they look like controller button commands , whats up with that ?

Yea Windows got confused with my g27 until I picked up the legacy drivers. If you don't have all the Windows diagnostic data turned on it will continue to install the wrong driver. I would check there first. If you have that figured out than I would also make sure you change your control mode to wheel on the main options page, and then go to the wheel settings page. It will still likely just show x-input controller button prompts.

my g29 does not work at all with steering all the buttons work but i cant turn at all but other then that i can use the buttons on the wheel any help with a fix?
