Stop the Brake+Reverse insanity PLEASE!
WHY!? :(

Why must all these game developers always make vehicles go in reverse when PRESSING THE BRAKES!!??

THEY ARE SEPARATE!!!

And they shall remain such!

IF!!! you're going to make brake+reverse a possibility, IT MUST BE OPTIONAL!

ALWAYS!!!

Always...

optional...

And it should at most be nothing but an afterthought if it's added.
Because the default mode should be that BRAKES! will be BRAKES! and nothing else!

I don't know of a single vehicle anywhere in the world where pressing the brake pedal at a standstill will make you go reverse.

And if there is one, I DON'T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT!!!

don't hold down brake too long, just tap it until it slows down enough to coast to a stop

Exactly. I don't know why they bothered adding an option to manually shift to reverse if you do it automatically. I wish there was an option to turn it off. In fact, I wish the entire transmission could be handled manually. Gear ratios are way off though, so it wouldn't feel right.

HA HA HA HA HA 😂 Great answer‼️ Anyway, it's just a game that let's us play our own god. Didn't the Flinstones' car go backwards when Fred applied the brakes?

I suspect the Mr Bean car has this feature.

Well if they let us ad more than just 1 dman controller then the game would be playable (to me)

Yes, the brake should not be a switch, it should be determined by the length of time to determine the brake strength.

Also: the response of the throttle and brake in the game is somewhat delayed, not very good.

The brake is not a switch. When using a controller you can gently squeeze the brake for as long as you like - ie regulate it the same as you do the accelerator/throttle, or just tap it. Press it hard to active reverse. Works for me.
It's just a game - adapt to how it works.

The point of discussions like this is not to find ways to adapt to design flaws, but rather to address them.
Things like this can go a long way of determining the longevity of a game, and that's something that matters a lot to developers – or at least SHOULD matter a lot.

If everything fails you can always start using the hand brake instead. I Usally brake to almost standstill then handbrake.

Also not using auto will make you only brake, and you should honestly be rolling in high or low/high at all times if you want to save fuel. It requires snowrunner or offroad gearbox tho.

Right. Using the handbrake is basically the only reliable workaround.
And it also applies braking force immediately, unlike the regular brake.
And I know using other gears temporarily cures the brake pedal from the horrible curse of auto-reverse. Thanks for the advice though!

But sometimes the auto gear is the most preferable for maneuverability, and you often get further in the same amount of time, with somewhat comparable fuel consumption, actually resulting in better fuel economy (miles per gallon) rather than how much you're burning at the moment.

But even using all these workarounds there are still times when you accidentally might trigger auto-reverse and potentially ruin a very delicate situation.
It's just something you should never have to be worried might happen.
Wish the devs realized that.

This was requested a dozen of times, but the developers just don't care. It's annoying with a game pad, but for steering wheel users it's even worse, because there is no manual shifter. It's like you would press the brake in your car and it would go into reverse. I would like to see that carnage at the next traffic light. :steamfacepalm:

Haha, exactly!
Ok,, didn't know it's been requested that much. Strange that they wouldn't do anything about it. It's just such an unnatural thing. Cars just don't do that.
I got this game during some Steam event about simulators so I assumed it was one.
Things like this makes me reconsider that label.

but that is pretty useless in a forum like this where no devs read , do that on their forum.

You're probably right that the devs don't look here.
But why wouldn't they be?
At least that was my thought posting this.

So I tried registering on the official forums...
Have to say that place doesn't look great...
You register with your real name and that becomes your profile name for the forum...
Can't change username or any settings, because the changes do not register...
Logged out and I can't log back in... says the credentials are wrong...
And I don't receive a password reset email either...

Something's definitely catastrophically broken over there...
Maybe the devs really should be here instead...
