One way to get sort of the same effect is to coop with a newer player and help them make progress on their maps.
That is, start a new game and save it to some save game slot. Do *not* use your current slot. Keep that if you want to progress with it later. Or just in case you screw up editing the save game...
The save game file is in your ...\Documents\My Games\SnowRunner\base\storage\SomeCrypticIDNumber\ directory and the saved game file name is "CompleteSave.dat", "CompleteSave1.dat", "CompleteSave2.dat" or "CompleteSave3.dat" depending on which save game slot you have saved it in the game.
The saved game file is just a textual json file so you can use your preferred text editor or notepad if you don't have anything else. Be sure you edit the correct saved game you want to edit. Actually, might be a good idea to backup the original before editing.
Funds: Search the file for the place where you have in small letters the word "money". You should see this kind of an entry:
...,"money":386500,...
Pretty self-explanatory that. Modify the number to whatever you need so that you can "repurchase" the trucks and items in your current fleet. This way you can simulate bringing over your current trucks to a new game.
XP Progression: Here I have to confess that I haven't tried editing this entry but the save file does have this field:
...,"experience":2880,...
My guess is that the number is simply your XP points so change the value to what you have in your current game. Not sure if anything else is required. That is, whether there is some field storing your character level. Maybe not since your XP points ultimately determine your level. Try it out. If it doesn't work then just restore it back. You can still use all your trucks you bought with those "magic funds" even if your character level starts anew from the beginning.
Ideally, I'd like to reset mission and zone progress, but not truck or upgrade progress. I could probably do a fresh save, edit money and level via the save game editor then look to manually copy over some upgrade locks. Guess we'll see.
Good luck for finding the edits you need. At worst, you'll mess up one save game and if that was a new game then no real harm done. You can always just overwrite the save with a new one.
I have only edited in the save file the money entry myself. I find the hard mode otherwise exactly as I like with all its "career" mode like things of needing to pay money for stuff and recoveries, except I hate that one thing in it: no selling of trailers.
So, my solution to that was to do "delete trailers and increase my money with 50% of their value" similar how you can sell trucks. A bit cumbersome but now it works the way I like it.
some missions can take hours to get done
