Russian Bias
I recently finished most of the tasks in Michigan and Alaska and decided to try out Tamyr and I am somewhat disgusted by the Russian vehicles.

Look, I get it, it's a Russian developed game and all but it appalls me, not just the traction/power of the Russian vehicles but more over their near immunity to damage, where I had become accustomed to randomly taking damage when driving over even the cleanest of paved surfaces and at low speed with American trucks- you can literally drive the Russian trucks square into a wall at full speed and you *might* take a little bit of engine damage.

I know it's not competitive, it doesn't 'destroy' any 'balance' but it is very childish from the development team to err so heavily and so blatantly on their nationalism

I don't see it this way. Some trucks work better than others depending on the map and the terrain. Some trucks can't have chain tires, others can't have mud tires, others don't have raised suspensions. A lot of them are specialized for either ice or mud and snow. I actually appreciate the variety and putting limits on some trucks really helps keep the game challenging and interesting.

All the default russian trucks in SnowRunner don't exist in real life, at least in any mass production. So besides nerfing, they seem like to include super old american trucks versus some futuristic only-on-paper russian trucks 🤷

Much more true to reality were russian trucks in MudRunner. Much more. They were alright in the mud, but at least they look like the actual ones.

What russian trucks in the game does not exist in real life? Afaik they all do, just under other names.

Almost a year old, yet here we are; bumpin' it.

I did some research on this topic and my general conclusion was that:

Russian trucks are overly buffed for power. The Ural Next (Voron Grad) has a max power of 312 hp, while the International HX goes up to 605 hp. In game they Grad has more power than the HX.

At the same time, Russian trucks ship with AWD from the factory. NA trucks are typically sent to an aftermarket company to be modified for AWD. As ride height and thus tire size can be set at the same time the truck is modified for AWD, tire size should also not be an issue; especially when considering that Canadian tandems are set fairly fair apart by law.

Based on the IRL stats, Russian trucks should be cheaper with the better base game drive train (AWD, diff lock, etc.); but North American trucks should be able to be modified to be on par; if not better due to more powerful engines.

YouTube has lots of vids of Russian trucks in difficult conditions - eg

I am guessing that is why the Ural Next can't pull trailers with a flatbed and crane and the International HX can pull trailers with crane and even medium log trailer with medium log bed.

I really don't care where the game comes from or whatever. All I know is I like it a lot for its near reality and functions of the trucks; the scenery is spectacular ... I'm 68 and like most of us, due to the pandemic, I spend a lot of time confined inside my home so I always have an excuse to play.
I like it too for the same reasons. I like the tough old Russian trucks! I only use Russian trucks in Russia, and American trucks in USA.
Oh, and I'm 78 - played more than 300 hours. Just getting to the end of Taymyr.

Speaking of Russia - loved the Metro 2033 series - particularly Exodus.
A series of Metro games were made by Ukrainians.

Don't really agree that there is a Russian bias . Sure the Russian trucks are stronger ,but the American trucks are more versatile . For instance twin steer 4 cargo spots, Caterpillar very stable logging truck and great fuel truck for getting you out of trouble and don't forget the Forester best logging truck in the game.
Just my thoughts over 2000 hours in the game.

Power is not everything. If the gear ratios are ♥♥♥♥, the power goes to waste. So the gearbox and differential ratios play HUGE role in the capability of each truck, its not just raw power that you must compare.

I’m pretty sure in the game those trucks use the same gearboxes, so you can’t really use the gear ratios to explain away the power inconsistencies.

I think that most unrealistic difference between regions is fuel consumption and not those mentioned. Eastern trucks are chunkier not necessarily only by deliberate design but also by lack of care for wasting resources or sometimes lack of technology. While eastern are more difficult to damage and can climb steep natural hills with ease, they should waste more fuel to carry same cargo, and can haul less tonnage on asphalt compared to same "sized" western vehicles.

Ah - thanks for putting me right - made by Ukrianians but set in Moscow.

They are not the same, as an example the offroad twinsteer gearbox high is much faster than any other trucks offroad high, and there is other subtle differences in all trucks.

They do, the Taygas trucks burns fuel, while the Voron Grad and Azov 64131 are the only really fuel eco trucks.
