1. Take the Chevy and get the GMC for the sideboard. No need to buy it when it is free on the GMC.
2. There is enough free fuel in Michigan where you do not have to pay for it. Plan your missions out so you do not turn in fuel trailers with full fuel. Use it up first.
3. Fleetstar can be tippy in spots so I extend the crane supports out in situations where I feel I might flip over and drive with them extended until I feel safe again.
4. Try to get the P16 early. It's very useful for stuck trailer or truck missions, and for those special transport trailers.
5. Double stack cargo for extra efficiency.
6. I wait until level 7 and 8 before buying tires. I can get by with highway until I get mud tires for scouts and off-road for Fleetstar or GMC.
7. It's not a race. Slow is fast and fast is slow. Take your time.
The biggest disappointment for me at least, is that you cannot sell trailers, not even for 50%, not even the ones you have bought, not found. You cannot transfer them to another country, you have to buy again in every region. Fuel is expensive, but you will find some for free. You will find some repair trailers for free too, but unfortunately you cannot transfer repair points to your scout the same way as you can do with fuel. So there are some disappointments for sure..
Money in hard mode goes away fast, which means you will not have a lot, which means you will not be able to buy as many trucks as in normal mode. This probably is the saddest thing for most players in this game, in hard mode
There needs to be a way to move your trailers to another country. Even in normal mode I hate buying trailers and then selling them back for the same price (the same with trucks) it makes it feel like there's no reason to ever own anything. Purchases don't matter at all because you can just use the trailer for 1 mission then return it for the same price you paid for it. Kind of takes that immersion out of the game.
Collect every vehicle you can get, but keep most for spares for when you're stuck or rolled. You only get 50% value when you sell trucks and recovering can be expensive. Transfering between regions is also expensive so extra vehicles you can leave in other regions are handy.
Not at all obvious! In hindsight maybe but it's those thing that you don't notice until you notice. I was struggling to earn any money in hardmode as all of the earnings seemed to vanish for just buying gas. Then I read that you actually can nick fuel from all those tanks lying around including the ones you are supposed to deliver. Situation much improved.
Though, I have been a bit careful of how much I take from them so as to not break the mission and make the tank not trigger at the delivery zone. Perhaps a bit too careful... Would anyone know how much fuel the tank needs to have at minimum for it to still complete its mission?
I've never had an issue with it not accepting trailers. I'm not sure if it takes fuel into consideration. It's probably looking at the sprite ID of the trailer. Would be nice to know for sure.
With Pipe Dream, if you deliver the heavy fuel tanker with at least 10% first, then if it shows that it was delivered in the upper corner of your screen, you can siphon the rest of the fuel out of it before you deliver the bricks and beams.
Oh, it's that low? I have been *way* too cautious. Thank you very much, Sir!
Wow. Ok, this is advanced stuff. Thank you for the tip! See? Not obvious at all.
Also, the crane is useful if you get yourself stuck. You can use the crane boom to push yourself along if you get stuck. I've been in a situation where I had no winch points ahead but had a tree behind me. I used the crane to push against the tree, freeing my truck from the hole I was in.
I've also used it to push against the ground kind of like if you was rowing a boat with an oar. Extending the crane all the way in-front of the truck can also help shift the weight to the front and help lift the rear tires up a little bit. That can help prevent the rear tires from digging in the ground more if you get stuck.
The crane anchors can also be used to help stabilize yourself if you get into a situation where you might flip over. I've already mentioned this but drive along with them out until you feel safe enough. It can save you time if you flip over and money if you opt to recover to garage.
you can overload your truck if it has a good performance in heavy duty jobs; so you can normally anchor the lower cargo and then add more cargo over it using the crane. The upper cargo will not be anchored to the truck, but if you drive carefully to destination you can deliver it after the lower one (you have to anchor it to the truck to before the delivery option become available). Doing this you'll spare some trips in multiple materials delivery missions.
ah, you can also use the crane to stabilize the unachored cargo, by pushing it over the cargo (so driving with the crane unstowed)
