Hard Mode vs Normal
What are your preferences? I'm running parallel saves right now and I find myself playing the normal save more and more. I 'want' to play my hard save more often, I just don't. What's y'all's preferred mode? Just curious how y'all feel about it.

I'm 68 and I prefer the easy "sandbox" version. When I first got the game (when it came out) I attempted Hard mode. That one is tough and I may not live long enough to enjoy it - although I did hear it's not for the faint of heart. Either way, it's very addictive❕

My biggest concern with it is I've had to restart it twice and I just don't have the time I used to. The idea of losing a 60 hour save because of a rollover or something, oof. I enjoy the game a great deal though. I just make normal harder for myself. I wish we could manually set the parameters.

First time around I was ±200 hrs in. Then I kinda got too curious about the PST (or PTS?) and that's where I lost everything - games & trucks. Then it would happen more frequently. They said it would be possible to eventually recover my old saved games (in a separate folder) but it never worked for me. That's when I restarted and began to enjoy the scenery and the game's reality as far as the trucks could (or couldn't) handle all that mud and rough wilderness. However, I do agree that there should be more for us to control similar to American Truck Simulator maybe (?). But whatever the outcome, it was good of them to offer both flavor of the game.

Hardmode for me , i've had to restart 3 times the last 2 weeks and i love it , playing normal just feels boring? , it was the same in diablo 2 , i could not play normal i always went hardcore , lost a few high level characters but still play to this day,,

Guess it's just me, i find myself falling asleep if there is no risk involved.

Look at it this way , in snowrunner for example , the reason i got stuck made me approach it another way in the next game , playing hardmode gives the game years and years of extra play time .

BUT playing it like this i'll probably die irl before i finish it.. lmao.

I’m curious to know how many people advocate hard mode and actually stick with it. Saying that due to global achievement %

I play in normal because you can still make it as challenging as you want, but you still have the option to save some time. After reading the hard mode settings, I figured I would waste a lot of time driving back and forth everywhere, especially since you have to pay to retain trucks. Plus, I like to change my truck configurations as I unlock new upgrades, so I find myself buying and selling a lot of parts. I know it's kind of unrealistic to resell items at full price, but it's nice to be able to try different configurations with so many truck options and not lose a ton of money.

Either way, the terrain doesn't change between normal and hard, and like I said, I just feel like overall progress would be painfully slow in hard mode. Going through Michigan took me quite awhile as it is, and I greatly enjoyed it. It was still challenging. I mean hey, if you still want to manually load and never recover your truck in normal mode, that's totally up to you! But it's nice knowing that if you ever made a critical mistake, you don't have to restart your whole savegame.

HM is all about money. We need something mild one, with ALL levels, all upgrades (looking for them is stupidest idea ever) and all money we already have. The main missions should be RESCUE missions and missions with brigdes - they are most interesting part of this game. Most boring - tow logs and any kind of "researches", brrrr.
We have to be able to construct our own base, garage and so on. We have to be able to make our own roads. Rocks are evil, there must be menu button "remove rocks". There should be button "no nights", or something like that, because daytime in this game is damn too short, and you have you push that silly button "skip night" two damn times every time.
And last but not least - maps must be definitely much BIGGER.
Let it be to play this game from cockpit ONLY. I personaly love cockpit style of playing, I use it almost all the time. Cockpit mode, sometimes, is real HARDCORE cos you don't see where your truck's wheel will be next moment, you can't calculate the path you're going.

I play normal, but I understand those who do hard mode only, sometimes you want a big challenge! As for me, I had those in some other very grindy games and the time I invested is simply not worth it for me anymore, at least for now. I just want to enjoy games for what they are as they offer enough challenges, If I feel like it I give myself a harder task, if I feel like relaxing, I just go with the easiest route, the most important thing for me is that the "time - enjoyment" ratio is balanced to my liking.

Actually on the rocky roads the speed rarely exceeds 10 mph. So I wouldn't call it jumping, it's crawling.

I would like to try all of the trucks out and I found a post on Reddit that explained the amount of money earned in hard mode and what can be made selling everything and all of that. It looked like, at least to the eyes of a complete rookie, that there was no way for me to be able to play around with a bunch of different trucks and do what I wanted with em. Figured I'd play through normal then hard would be a lot easier after. I'd know what I like'd and what I didn't so I don't waste resources.
