Questions on how Co-Op works
In general, but especially relating to hard mode,

do players need to buy players if they join in coop, or could they use existing trailers? And if someone buys a trailer, in hard mode you can’t sell them — will they get their money back if they leave coop? Does the trailer stay on the world it was bought on, or is it deleted and nobody gets their money back? As well, does deploying in coop cost money like how deploying from a different garage cost money? Or do they get like a free deployment because they joined a coop session? Or does it only effect deploying from the same garage they retained their vehicles from?

As well, since fuel costs money, how is fuel used in coop? Can players take fuel from my trucks or trailers and use it, or do they have to buy it from the gas station? Or can they with permission? Or can they without permission? Since fuel is a limited resource, is there a different mechanic for that in hard mode coop?

Also in general, I heard they bring their own vehicles for coop, but can players use the player’s vehicles for tasks when not in them, or is it purely seperated where players have to use their own vehicles explicitly?

I haven’t played coop yet, but I want to know how some of these things work if anyone knows. And most of the information seems to be just on the standard mode, I don’t know very much how hard mode co op would change, since that is what I started playing. I thought it would be fun to try it with some of the more complex missions, but there isn’t much on co op in hard mode and I haven’t tried it with standard as the save in the standard gamemode only has the tutorial done pretty much.

If your game is hard mode, and you're hosting, anyone can join with any game type.
People joining your game can buy trailers, and when they leave the trailers will vanish and the money they spend will be refunded to them. (so it's better to make the guests buy their own trailers)
The can still use any vehicle parked on the map and can take fuel from any truck or trailer.

They do have to pay to deploy a truck in your garage unless that's the garage where they retained it.
If they want to save money, they can go into their single player game, move to the map where you are. bring out, then retain any trucks they want to use. Then, when they join your game those trucks won't cost money to deploy since they were retained at that garage.

They can also bring fuel into your game by mounting a fuel add on to a truck in single player, moving it out of the garage, then recovering it. (which would top up any fuel tanks) Once they retain the truck and move to your game, their tanker is still full of fuel and they can bring this free fuel into your hard mode game.
With the high price of fuel in some maps, this can save you thousands of dollars. You do need an empty trailer to put it in that's owned by the host though so the fuel stays when the guests leave. Any fuel trailers you buy in hard mode are empty.

The major advantages of hosting a hard mode coop game are:
People can bring you free fuel in their trucks.
People can loan you trucks that you might not be able to afford to help earn money for everybody in the session.
Normal mode players are usually very rich compared to hard mode players and having wealthy helpers is always a good idea. Somebody with 300k and most of the trucks in the game isn't going to be bothered about buying you a tanker worth of fuel or buying a bunch of logging trailers for the session while the cost might be too much for most hard mode players.

In coop onlythe "Server" Player can Progress there Task. As "Friend" you can Help the "Server" Player with his tasks. The "Friend" can only Unlook Trucks and Upgrades. And gain Money and Exp. The "Friend" cant Steal you Trucks.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If I can ask, an additional question:

Coop says you can get rewards and stuff, but “unlock vehicles.” I also left a session and it said “trucks obtained: 1”, but I didn’t level up nor did I have any new trucks. I am confused on what this is, can you obtain new trucks in co-op? If not, why does it say this? If I did get a new truck, where would it be? I don’t understand, more trucks obviously would be awesome, but I can’t find out what this means at all.

What it means is that if a truck is found in your coop session, you can then BUY it from the truck store if it's not part of a DLC that you don't own.
For instance, if the hummer is found in alaska in your coop session, it's unlocked for you to buy from the truck store since it's part of the base game, but only the host of the session gets the truck for free.

If the Ford 750 is found in Lake Kovd, but you only have the base game, it won't be available for you to buy since you'd require that DLC to buy it. If you bought the DLC after that session, I'm not sure if it would still be unlocked for you to buy, or if you'd have to find it again to unlock it.

It's the same with upgrades. The host of the session gets the free one while everyone else in the session gets it unlocked to buy. In the case of upgrades, it doesn't matter if you have the DLC map where it was found, it's unlocked for EVERYONE in the session.
So if you only had the base game and somebody in a coop session found the Twinsteer AWD upgrade in Imandra, it would still be unlocked for you.

Hope that makes things clear.

Hard mode needs a rebalance, really.
