Is this game even remotely possible to play with a Keyboard and Mouse, and still have anything resembling fun? I don't have a controller, or a driving setup, but the game does look really cool to me, and I'd love to play it, if it's feasible.

yes it is, I use keyboard and mouse here

I use the keyboard and mouse just here, tap and release key for steering and mouse for camera angle. Menu's work with either.

you can. One thing I dont like about is the mouse acceleration. It annoys me when freelooking in cockpit view and when manual shifting.

Technically yes, but no. :steamhappy:

Well, that might have been a bit too harsh on Snowrunner. I did play it with keyboard+mouse until I got a wheel and pedals.

Yeah, it's *possible* but I'd say it's much more enjoyable with wheel and pedals. Just prepare for lots of "oversteering" if you use the keyboard. It's harder to do precise control with just "A" and "D" so you tend to swerve a lot when driving even on a good paved road.

Well, ok, the game does also impose a deliberate "steering control lag" to simulate poor road conditions so even with a wheel you're prone to oversteer but with a keyboard it's a bigger problem...

Still a fun game, though. Even with just the keyboard and mouse. :steamhappy:

I never had any swerving on the roads, you just get use to it after a while its alll in the right timing of the key presses, I been playing driving games with keyboard / mouse for years

There's a streamer who plays Hardcore Mode with keyboard and mouse, having no problems whatsoever. And also, you'll have much easier time using winch. Not like it's impossible on controller, but it's much faster with mouse.

I've played for over 500h with mouse and keyboard (had the game on Epic first) and it works like a charm. Yes you can't have precise throttle control, but that never turned out to be an issue ever.
The way the game handles steering does take a bit of getting used to, but you'll notice that the way they did it makes the most sense for such a game.

I use mouse and keyboard. The steering is a bit touchy but you get used to it. 90% of the game is a slow speed crawl so the twitchy aspect only gets worrisome when you might roll off a cliff.
Using auto and low gears (with locked diff) when you get to the tricky bits makes up for the steering.
I love the game, my 46 year old son finds it frustrating. I find figuring out how to get a truck back up on it's wheels an interesting exercise.

I really like using a controller more than using a keyboard and mouse. I also don't have a steering wheel. One of the things I was pleasantly surprised about with this game is how it works great with an Xbox controller. I can only guess that if you always use a keyboard and mouse you won't have any issues with that for this game because a whole lot of people prefer keyboard and mouse. The downside of using a controller is just what Pomptime said, selecting winch points with the controller is kind of a pain. I actually use the mouse for that a lot.

930 hours and only using KB / Mouse ..

About 300 hours with mouse and keyboard, and I still don't care about using a controller or wheel yet.

I have a wheel setup but prefer to play mouse and keyboard. Going on 300hrs now just using the rodent and pounding the horse teeth.

Using a wheel does not prevent you from using the mouse or keyboard. I simply use the wheel to steer and to control stuff related to driving. I use the mouse and the keyboard for the other controls from camera angles to winch point selections.

Surely you grant that the wheel gives you easier steering and more precise control? :steamhappy:
