Using playstation controller getting xbox buttons.

So, I've gone through all the hoops to get my playstation 5 controller to actually work properly. Yes, steam guides, big picture mode, controller config, etc. I'm still getting xbox buttons in the game.

Steam recognized my playstation 5 controller for what it is, lets me play any other game displaying the correct keys.

So why won't this game just work properly like all the other ones do? It would be pretty swell if there was an in game option to display different controllers options, rather than just changing what keys do on the same controller type.

In Steam Library > Snowrunner > properties > Controller > Disable Steam Input

See if that helps, the game does support DS4 nativelly with appropriate button icons.

I did try that. Then the controller didn't work at all. Are you talking DS4 as dualshock 4, or the app?

DS4Win is an emulator of XInput just like Steam Input is, therefore it would display Xbox buttons instead of Playstation ones.

Though i am not sure if the game nativelly support DualSense controller of PS5, don't have any to test it with and i can't ask Saber/Focus QA anymore given it's weekend :3

I had that app a long tune ago when I had a playstation 4 controller. Guess it's worth a shot at least. thank you. It's just weird I have to jump through hoops when my other steam games have no such issues giving the right key prompts.

Same issue here, but the opposite way around. Using an Xbox Controller and getting PS4 buttons.

Tried the suggestions, no luck. Very strange bug. The game even shows an image of the Xbox Controller in the Controller tab.

What's worse is I can still see PS4 inputs when disconnecting the Xbox controller and the game no longer shows PC inputs.

Nope. This is the only game in my library that has ever done this.

DS4 does work with a playstation 5 controller in the game. Only issue is DS4 pretends it's a playstation 4 controller, which makes certain buttons not work without additional configuration.

However, going through DS4, you can bind the buttons on the playstation 5 controller to whatever you like. I had to get the share button on the playstation 5 controller to be mapped to M keyboard prompt. That way, the share button works as it should to bring up the map.

Strange that this game have these issues, as others on steam won't work well with DS4 and supports playstation 5 controllers with no additional problems. But either way, this is a workaround I can live with for the time being.

Old thread, but found a solution. Go to ingame settings and change steering wheel settings preset to [xbox] or [playstation]

As per BOI -i Have found that if you change the settings at the top under STEERING WHEEL you change what is displayed by your controller in the game. I use an XBox controller on a PC and to get its buttons to display in SR - I go to WHEEL PRESETS - LOGITECH G923 (XBOX LAYOUT) - change that setting and you may get the Playstation hints or the PC Keyboard ones displayed in SR.

When I change the wheel settings to the Logitech G923 (Playstation) I still get the Xbox buttons referenced in-game and not the ones for my DS4. I'll keep messing with it.

Anyone managed to find a fix for this? I have the exact same issue as OP and have tried the suggested fixes but still getting xbox icons
