Manual Loading / Unloading

Having been playing for a while now, and briefly tried "hard mode", i noticed thee is no option to manual unload cargo, this sort of makes it pointless having a loading crane on the truck, or am i missing something here?

Automatic unloading doesn't cost anything in hard mode.
Using a crane saves you $150 each time you load a piece of cargo.

You then need to "pack cargo" via the functions menu to strap it down to the truck, and that also enables you to unload it later.

following on from my original question, is it possible to unload cargo from a trailer and store it on the ground in the garage yard for use later? or will it be deleted when you exit the game?

Yes it will be there when you reload

Also, there are numerous missions where you're tasked with picking up scattered pieces of cargo. The loading crane on the truck means you can do these missions with one truck without a trailer, and with less difficulty getting the crane to a spot where you can acquire the cargo.

Sometimes the crane can help you balance the truck, too!
