How to use Icicle Launcher?

Hey there,
really loving the game, playing as an Ice Mage with a friend who is waltzing melee.

I learned in the tutorial how to do the fusion magic, but for some reason I can't get Icicle Launcher working. Here is what I do:

Left Hand: Physical Shield thingy
Right Hand: Ice attack (forgot the name)

I use my hands like I want to form a town portal. A circle with magic symbols appears in front of me, floating mid air for some seconds and vanishing again. Enemies are close to it (let's say melee range even), nothing happens. Do I miss something?

You have to punch into the glyph to shoot an icicle out. Rapid punching to fire more quickly. So practice your "Ora ora ora" for better results.
