put on airlink or wired. then boot up the game. make sure u got steamVR installed.
- Hard reset the Oculus software on the PC.
To do this, you need to close the Oculus software on the PC and open the Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) and "End Task" (a.k.a. kill) the 3 following process :
"OVR Service Launcher" and "OVRServer_x64.exe" and "OVR Redir"
(OVR Service Launcher should be ended first because it will keep reopening the 2 others.)
Those background "tasks" are live at all time after you open the Oculus Software once and doesn't end once you close it. The OVRServer_x64 is the one that store the communication data between your PC and the Headset while Service Launcher is the one who communicate with SteamVR when you launch it.
Once all of those are "closed", opening anew the Oculus software should open a loading bar that display something like "Checking your Oculus status" for a short moment. (This means that you have properly hard reset the software.)
- Opening the SteamVR software/app in Steam prior to starting the VR game.
By doing so, you ensure that Steam VR is properly started (which is a requirement for VR game on Steam) prior to asking the Oculus software to communicate with it. Sometimes, what's happening is that SteamVR kinda crashes and that automatically close the VR app before it even starts. This looks, to you with the headset, as if the game doesn't open.
Simplest way of achieving this is to open SteamVR directly from the Oculus app (the menu you see once you enter Air Link mode.) If you previously started SteamVR, it should appears in the app list of that menu. (This is a part of reason for the "OVR Redir" task I previously mentioned. That Task logs access references to any games/app you started on your PC with Oculus.)
- If those 2 methods fails, a PC soft reset ("Restart") could be a possible fix.
There's a possibility that you could have gotten an update without knowing it like a NVidia or Windows update. Those updates, sometimes (though rare), can render some stuff unusable until the PC is restarted.
i run steam vr tutorial. hit my left menu button library. then choose legendary tales.
EDIT: Uninstaled ad reinstalled SteamVR, that did it for me.
