Hiya. Bought the game; X360 controller is completely unresponsive. ( and I got a message saying it was detected and configured ) Any trouble shooting tips?

1) I am soft locked where you originally find Steve Stager (see pic). There is no way to jump up to the left because they have moved to another area. 2) I got stuck down here because I am doubling back through everything I have done so far (again). I have made it to the hub and my hint says "You have to access some parts of the Hub by going through Mash Potato Mountain". I have tried to go everywhere I can in the hub but I am blocked by different things like needing different drill bits, the asparagus, ...
