can i trust the co-drivers readings?!!?
thanks
I'm really happy with it. My last game was WRC6 and they've fixed most of the issues I had with that game. I've found the game does lack a level of polish and attention to detail tho. Just small nitpicks that would make the experience a lot better.
I think we're at the halfway point now till the next one comes out so I'd probably recommend trying to find the game on offer if you want it.
I haven't tried multiplayer yet so I can't comment on that.
The co drivers are a lot better than they use to be in old WRC games. They still make a few calls I don't agree with sometimes, its mostly corners that are somewhere between 3 and 4's. There's also a few hidden rocks on corner apex's where a 'do not cut' should have been.
There's this 'immersive co driver' option where he'll make happy remarks if you hit a green sector or comment if you've made a mistake. I didn't like this at all, so I turned it off, which also turns off the co drivers count down at the start of the stage too, which is annoying.
I think if you enjoy the Dirt series, you'll probably best waiting for EA's version. I imagine they'll just put a WRC skin on its Dirt engine.
i think that was the reason i stopped playing it. same problem with the other Kylotonn titles before. you had to learn the stages to be competitive, which afaik is not in the spirit of rally driving.
is it the same in WRC10?
Also, speaking of "learning the stages", that is the most common complaint for all the stage rally games out there, which "unlike real world driver, where they solely rely on pace notes to compete". But are they really?
I mean, before the rally, the driver and co-driver need to inspect the stages once in order to make the pace notes. And they might need to adjust those when they headed back to the hotel with the car cam footages.
Granted they won't really feel the stages with their hands and foot, and they don't have much time to rewatch the car cam footages, but at least they have some visual memories, that can help them to be on the same page when the pace notes are called. Isn't that learning the stage?

yup, really.
even if there are exceptions, rally is rally and not trackracing.
therefore i want a trustworthy co-driver =)
RBR was the only game i can think of that did it very well, and if i remember right it even gave me 2 different types of the reading to chose.
i like pacenotes from the WRC titles by Evolution Studios too but they also sometimes F me up with the timing, haha.
Edit: its been some time but i believe that Mobil 1 Rally Championship 2000 on PC does also quite a good job with the pacenotes! this game is especially great because it has rallye stages that can last up to more than half an hour. day, night, rain, snow, ice, gravel, asphalt... just awesome!
Personally, I don't think the pace note is that bad? Then again, I am someone as you might called a "stage learner" type of driver, so I shouldn't comment too much on that
it is a bit failiure, ffb and physics are not eligable to suit long and narrow tracks, far from real experience, I tried many times with many different FFB settings but nothing comes close to the simulation level, if you not owned already the Dirt 2 is much more better overall package,
I uninstalled both and Playin RBR only with hu plugin.
If I had to use a word I would say serviceable. The sounds, ffb, and feel of the car just didn't grab me. I want to stay with it cause I do see some charm in the game but I'm hoping I'll get some enjoyment out of it.
Also to note.. I haven't messed with my ffb settings to much. It's all on default and seems rather lackluster. At this point I've only been through the menus and ran two stages. Looking to drive some more this weekend.
Would love to hear some comparisons to players who have a decent amount of time in both wrc and dirt 2. Also if anyone has all achievements would love to heard about that as well.
