How to use direct steering response or something
Using an analog stick on a controller still isn't enough to get analog steering. It feels like there is a 50% deadzone and when I go over then it just acts like I've completely pressed a keyboard key. There is absolutely no analog control.

I usually play games like BeamNG using direct steering response meaning there is absolutely zero deadzone and my analog input corresponds directly to the steering wheel. At this point this is basically an accessibility feature because it's extremely painful to try to drive a vehicle without it.

Does pacific drive support this or will it always act like my controller is a keyboard?

It says it's using the full capabilities of the DualSense controller but it doesn't seem to be using the most basic feature which is the ability for the analog stick to represent values between 0 and 1.

Yea, that could use some (a lot of) tweaking.

If you absolutely just "feather" the stick, you can get a finer response until a certain deflection, but past that it goes to full turn without any further linear ramping, and most of the deflection range is indeed completely ineffective.

glad that i'm not the only one who noticed that. honestly hope it's fixed in the final build since 70% of the game is driving.

Just wanted to swing by and ask if you'd already modified the controller sensitivity settings in the options, it'll give me some more information and context to pass on to the team.

i did attempt to mess with the sensitivity and whatnot on the demo, but with no luck, as for exact details i can't remember but i'ma redownload the game and try some things out again now that i have more time. i'll let you know if anything works or doesn't work

ok so i have no idea why, but for me it seems that steam input makes the steering more sensitive/twitchy whenever you need to correct the car, i don't know if it's like that for everyone but i went through the section where you get the car, and with steam input turned off it was easier to drive and correct whenever the car got yanked one way or the other.

but paying more attention to it after turning off steam input, i think the issue some people are having is the response curve not being to their preference. i've been playing racing and driving games since i was born and for offroad games specifically i picked up a little trick. i usually have a more relaxed response curve, since it makes it more easy to make small accurate adjustments, or big adjustments under pressure, it really helps in the way that it stops you from over correcting if you start to slide or get bumped/yanked around, does take some time to get used to though. either way i'd suggest maybe adding in some response curve presets for people to mess with and find something that they feel comfy with, well at least if it ends up being an issue for more people and you guys got the time, would def be better than having people mess with steam input since it's not reliable or anyone's first pick/thought.

anyways hope that helps in some way, and i'll be picking up the game now that i know that steam input was the culprit on my end :3

I assumed "controller sensitivity" meant camera sensitivity, so didn't touch those. Would be nice if they were properly labeled

I can no longer test anything since the demo is locked after SNF and the game's expensive, maybe might be able to afford it in a few months
