One, I'm assuming seeing the missing gas cap means you scanned the tank and didn't get a leak alert from it?
Check the Tinker Station to see if you have a quirk. Fuel loss and increased fuel consumption are two such possible symptoms.
Also pop the hood and check the health of the engine, you could have damage there.
This causes you to lose some parts of your car and consequently you end up losing some part that wasn't implemented in the game yet.So this means that until the developer implements this part in the craft menu you won't be able to play unless you start a new game.
If you want to prevent this error from happening in your new save, you will have to disable item loss in the menu
So that when you abandon a mission or someone steals a piece of your car it doesn't happen again
Just loaded up my game to check, I have no fuel problems and my fuel cap also scans as missing so yeah I think thats just an old ui asset that wasnt used but left in the game.
