Goldenshells (spoilers on how to open)

So while I had posted this up as a guide some mentioned it could be considered to be spoilers. i have updated








to open
Combustable
- used titan's bone to break open. Devils Grinder had no effect
- can use the liberator to open

Conductive
- drop in sizziling mist
- drop in between shocked tourists
- place on the battery charging pad in garage and flip that switch

Corrordible - drop in cough box

Dehydrated
- throw at yellow water barrels on the road
- throw onto water

whishbone - have the abductor grab it twice
Secured - hit with hammer

Once ope just as any container

Use the resource radar and look for plant icons. If the map has pufferfish anomalies, they will have their own icon as well.

the resource radar is your friend

not much of an answer.. they're found in all biomes, but not guaranteed in every one. you'll find them on golden glowing trees. easy enough to spot from a distance, and yes, resource radar can be a big help. it will show a plant icon

Is there really no other way to open a Wishbone Goldshell other than with an Abductor? I hate those things with a passion. Always ruining my day.

The game offers you a lim-barrier or something like that. There are two bumpers, one of them definitely gives you protection from abductors.
You can also distract them with flares.
In a game with standard difficulty settings, this is realistic.

Just a heads-up for those of you dropping Goldshells into the damaging fields to open them:

If you have a vacuum on hand, you can grab it out of the field without having to actually jump into the field to collect the thing.

Bolt Bunnies also work, and you can technically do it with Spark Towers but it's a pain. The Spark Tower's attack will knock the Goldshell away, so for it to consistently work, you have to place the goldshell between the tower and one of the plasma generators to trap it in the beam.

If I ever get lucky enough to run into a Pacemaker with one on hand, I'll report my findings.

Same, unless they are in the Deep Zone , the only yellow thing I've seen is the occasional ARDA wreck.

There is water in the area where you come in the zone at the begining of the game

Actually you can cheese this, there is water all the way back in the starting zone which you can drop them in. It's in radiation so be prepared for that but next to the grate I found the best success.

Tour buses work for the Combustible Goldshells; just one explosion will do the trick. Regular tourists work as well, but you'll need several to break the shell, maybe 10 or 12 regular tourists.
