Does the multiplayer mod exist?

Me and my brother are contemplating on buying the game but we really want to play together. It would be cool if someone could help me.

No. It's a single player game.

There is no multiplayer mod. Another player took a stab at it and had to stop halfway through their attempt. Here is the quote from their thread stating that they had to stop and why:
