Gameplay settings not saving
Every time I close the game and re-open, my settings are reset to what I assume is default difficulty. Accessibility and Video options seems to be kept but not Gameplay.

It wouldn't be so bad except that the disclaimer on top says some options will take effect on next load... which is ironic.

What version of the game are you playing on? We recently released a hotfix to address this.

Pretty sure I installed the latest patches.
I think I found the problem though, but again, uncertain.
I think the problem occurs because I always save on a new save slot. The last time I played I overwrote a save slot so I'll see now if that's the problem or not, next time I launch.
Thank you for the reply by the way.

No problem! Keep us updated - want to make sure you get to play the game the way you'd like. 👍

I can now confirm that using a new save slot resets the gameplay settings.
Overwriting a save slot saves your settings.

Like I said, the last time I played I saved both on a new save slot and overwrote one.
Today I launch and the new save reset to default but the overwrote one kept all my settings.

I guess that's something for your next patch :)

Edit: I bought the game because of the drive it your way patch. Not a fan of being able to save only in garage but the patch let me chose to not lose everything if I have to leave the game for an emergency.

I have also encountered this problem many times lately, as I make backup saves in the garage in case I forgot something or made a mistake when planning a route. This is relevant after recent patches, the gameplay settings are reset to the standard "Pacific Drive", when saving in the same cell, the data is saved. If player do not notice this and go to drive with the standard settings, he will be in for an unpleasant surprise in the form of turning on death or a storm, which he could have previously turned off for himself.

Circling back to confirm that you have found a very rare edge case where starting from zero with no existing saves causes the game to reset to default settings when starting a new game. We're on it. 👍

Well I'm not 100% sure I understand your sentence here.
Let me show you step by step what I mean:

1. Start the game
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342928250

2. Load game (I'm loading the save slot I overwrote the last time I played. Meaning I saved on an already used save slot, hence overwriting it. This is not a new game. I had played a couple missions on this save.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342928763

This is the settings I use. which are saved
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342934073

3. Exit and load game from the save slot which was a new one. Meaning when I saved I used an empty save slot
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342928580

These are the settings returned to default when loading a save created from an empty save slot
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3342928421

I hope I'm clearer now. It happens (for me) whenever I use an empty save slot. I only have 1 empty save slot left so it might not do it again after that.

I just recently started playing the game from scratch and saved in empty slots without old saves and encountered this bug, so it seems like that.

Saved again to the already recorded cell, for some reason the gameplay settings were reset again (but partially, not all) even without exiting the game (discovered when leaving the map). I configured the preset again, saved it, decided to check where the presets were by pressing the "open preset directory" button and the game crashed... :steamhappy:

It seems that the custom preset has been saved, so at the moment this is the only way to solve the problem with resetting the gameplay settings, otherwise returning them manually every time is exhausting, especially with an incomprehensible slider hitbox and multiple mouse clicks on the value by 0.5 on the scale.
Also note that there is a great lack of the ability to skip the waiting time (sleep or just scroll through time) like in Snowrunner, "fast nights" are not suitable because of the duration for skipping until a convenient time for you to leave the garage.

Any chance of being able to install an aquarium in the glove compartment? I'd like to drive with a Pacu or two.
Any solutions for this?

You missed it. It was earlier in the thread.

So make your initial saves, change your settings, and then overwriting those saves should keep it.
