Deconstructor
Mine is just giving 1 scrap for like steel doors and then it shuts off.

In my own save, I find that the repair-state and condition of parts does play a part in what we get out of the Matter Deconstructor - a worn-out or heavily damaged part only seems to return one or two materials. I've even had a worn-out and 2 HP part give me nothing at all.
I have the same problem. I get one plastic for a dumpster pearl, or a door, or a new scrapper. After one item is thrown in or inputted, the Deconstructor can no longer be interacted with. I have tried verifying the install files, but the problem remains.

Same doesnt matter the shape an item is in I get 1 scrap and then it stops working.
Seconding this. 1 resource, then the Deconstructor can no longer be interacted with. Ended up scrapping dumpster pearls by hand.

theres later on a better deconstructor version which gives nearly 1:1 stuff back depending on how damaged/used the item is.

See, these stats are never mentioned anywhere in the game. It would be much more useful that instead of all that flavour text, they would drop at least a hint "this gives more mats". It says it scraps faster, but I have plenty of time. I don't care if it takes 3 seconds longer, so I never even build the advanced version.

I only figured out yesterday that better tools give more materials, because someone mentioned it on stream I was watching.
I am 35 hours in... I just always used the basic tools, since they were cheap.

Oh wow, thanks for sharing; I did not know this either, I traded the convenience of faster gathering speeds for cheaper construction costs - also being able to craft cheap tools on-the-go. I will have to try this out and see how much a difference it makes. Then again, it is not as though I really need more metal, plastic, glass, etcetera.

I notice it most with the thermosap crystals and plasma generators. You can get as much as 20 crystals from a single node with the magnetic hammer, and around 3-4 plasma from a single generator. Also, scrapping with the advanced scrapper seems to yield much more electronics from computers/radios.
I'm having exactly the same problem. I'll put a dumpster pearl in (or anything else), it'll spit out one scrap, shut off, and then I can't interact with it anymore. I have to save and reload in order to interact again. This honestly frustrated me so much that it broke my immersion and I didn't play for weeks. No idea how to fix this.

you better tell me how to fix this right now before i get mad and flip my desk.
IIRC, at launch the game didn't have an upgrade for the deconstructor, so I always got most (if not all) components back. But there also came a point where I really didn't need them either. Maybe the upgrade was added (and base model adjusted down) to keep components more sparse on the front end and justify the upgrade. Never had a problem with the dumpster pearls though.

I'm having an audio issue with the garage stereo that wasn't there at launch either. Think I'll try a complete un/re-install to see if it fixes my issue and test the pearls when I do as well.
Still have audio issue. No deconstructor issue. Not sure whether that'll help you, but worth a try?
Yall its mods
If a mod touches the matter deconstructor and is not updated with recent update it will error and stop making scrap.

Specifically, the update that added the T2 MD. I think it is the grindier mod that only has the T1 modded, and causes error.
