I wish i knew this game was Stalker + Tarkov + Chernobylite on Wheels before buying it
The way the store page presents it is not at all what I was expecting and I didn't discover it's true nature until I was well past the refund window.

It really isnt. This game is far more lenient and easy compared to those games. It had anmalies but nothing as deadly as stalkers. It has ruins and resource looting but nothing like the extraction shooter behavior of Tarkov.

And beside both of those elements are made clear in the tutorial mission. well inside the refund window unless you avoided completing the opening 15 minutes of plot in the opening scenario and garage.

Yeah and if I had wheels and pedals I wouldn't be a bicycle either, i get it, but you know what I meant.

As someone who just got into Stalker and Chernobylite a week or two ago no, this game feels nothing like those to me.

Are we even playing the same game? lol

The anomalies are obviously inspired from Stalker.
The quick/short missions and repeat visits to the same location are very chernobylite-like.

No it's not the same game and inspiration is fine and it's great to iterate on other ideas, that's all fine, I just wish I knew what it was beforehand.

It's fine i'll probably keep playing it and tweak a bunch of things to my liking, they do give a lot of control over some of the annoyances.

I mean, not knocking Stalker since it's an older game but most anomalies are literally static effects that feel more like a landmine than something "real." Probably doesn't help that their default state is "slightly, shimmery air."

The main reason is I didn't really like Chernobylite even though i beat it, maybe a 6/10, I really liked the first three Stalker games though.

Going back to the same location again and again like in Chernobylite/Tarkov and looting the same items, breaking the same items again and again (with some variation I grant you) just isn't terribly interesting. It makes for a fun scavenger game but it irreparably breaks immersion to a large degree, like every time I get back to the garage there are 2 electronics on a shelf you can break for parts.

Convenient, but it's basically an MMO concept (respawning resources) in a single player and I would suggest it's never a good idea unless it's only done via the magic dumpster or explained some other way, like maybe some NPC is dropping off parts and the like.

I know I'm splitting hairs here but I really liked Chernobylite when I started it but I absolutely hated it by the end and was glad when it was beaten and I'm getting the same vibes early on. Hopefully I'm wrong about this game, idk.

Yeah they are quite unique anomalies, I'll give them that.

If they ever do a sequel I think they have a very strong starting point but yeah, the game isn't perfect. For example, I feel the game is a bit too easy. By the time you reach deep zone you're likely swimming in resources (I don't usually even bother with the respawning car and electronics at this point in the game).

There's not really any active pursuing anomalies either. Like, sure, some will chase you short distances but for the most part long as you stay out of the immediate area an anomaly patrols you're pretty much good to run off and leave your car for ages.

I think what made the game click for me was just upgrading the car felt so dang good and I can't even definitively say what part of it got me hooked. Maybe how tactile it felt physically putting on that sturdier hood or that electric resistant door. It just all felt like it had weight to it. A good majority of the tech tree felt like massive upgrades when I got it. Side storage? Game changer. Auto repair parts while in mission? Amazing. Wind turbine? No more battery worries, etc.
