LIM Shield What Do
I'm not sure I am using this correctly... What exactly does it do?

It says "physical shield" but when testing it, the car still takes damage from impacts and explosions even when the shield is active. I was thinking it would cancel out a crash/damage if activated right before but it doesn't seem to offer protection at all.

Is this just meant to be a small % resistance to a particular damage type? If so, what is it?
The game should really describe the ability better...

I got it for a mission and then ended up not using it at all because I never actually took enough damage to worry me (I didn't lose a single car part). I kept waiting for the mission to prompt me about the shield but it never did.
Is it just some sort of MacGuffin?

It's kept me alive, it reduces overall damage to your car and blocks bunnies from sticking to it and abductors from hooking into it when the shield is on, it does not work with the pickpockets enemies though, best part is the shield only uses energy when it gets hit so you can leave it on unless your trying to save every bit of power. It's basically an upgraded Lim Pulse bumper where you don't have to manually activate it to make it work.

How do you turn it on?

You have to assign one of the four panel screens left of dashboard when you sit in car, i recommend you put it on the back bumper and use armor or insulated up front

Oh... that is not what I expected from the in-game description at all!
Does the pulse work on pickpockets or are they immune to that too?

Yeah, it's like the parry shield but on permanently and drains when activating. When you turn it on, it doesn't drain battery passively, only when it ticks.

Single biggest upgrade in the game - I went from swapping panels and parts every run to only replacing items when they became worn/fragile.

fun fact: if you use the lightning rod, insulated car part become pretty irrelevant. so you can replace those with other parts. I can safely go through minutemen and shock tourists barriers as it redirect the electricity to the rod, and charge my battery at the same time.

I tested that rod and it was meh, you still take shock damage from the electric anomaly's, also i never noticed it charging the car battery but it was a while ago that i used it. The tooltip says it charges from lightning strikes, and not from electric anomaly's, plus you're making it out to be some sort of electric anomaly immunity and it would be OP if it worked like that.
So what you just stated isn't fact.

Honestly the best battery charger in the game for me was the rain charger. It rained so often that it was a no brainer. Very rarely would I get into a windstorm and the lightning rod seemed hella useless, considering most of the time when lightning was happening there was rain.

It does not work against pickpockets unfortunately so you will still need to keep an eye on your parts screen when entering areas with those... I lost a roof rack of storage once with all my tools in it, OUCH, now I leave my tools in trunk and keep resources in the storage racks

I recommend just Side Storage racks and the Trunk, there's a lot of good Roof Rack stuff to pick from so while the XL storage is nice, it's competing against too much good stuff.

Resource Radar is pretty OP in finding what you need and the Ion Shield pretty much makes Radiation a non-issue for example.

Meanwhile the Side stuff isn't great so, it's easier to replace it with the Storage instead. All the battery charging stuff barely charges your battery compared to just packing Jumper Cables or Plasma Chargers. They're decent in the early game I guess when you're low on resources but once you're swimming in the stuff needed to make Battery Chargers they become almost useless. 1 Side Storage rack can fit 6 Plasma Chargers for example and that's more than you need for even the longest run.

Wind can be pretty non-existent is the later zones/biomes. Only the early Forest ones can have a lot of wind. Even going fast to try to spin them yourself, you're going to be using up more battery than it's charging if you're using your other Abilities.

Like I said Early game it's fine, late game just bring your own supplies and no longer be a slave to the weather.

Wind turbines charge you as long as you are driving around 40 mph, and I believe they charge faster if you go faster as well. I use two wind turbines and my battery is typically pretty full just from driving around. I use lightning rods too, but they are pretty inefficient at charging, they're great as a defensive tool though.

WAIT.....what??? that's helpful, Was that explained anywhere? I thought that shield was just for the mission and as your friends on the radio lead you to believe, uses an ass ton of power so it's mega impractical except for the conditions of the current mission which you absolutely need it for in order to survive...
