What am I meant to be doing

Sounds dumb but what are you meant to actually be doing? I’m at the get past the wall part and I’m trying to get to the other highway but feels like each junction I go to, I just collect the yellow balls trigger the portal then I’m back at garage.

I went to one junction I thought would lead me to the other highway but the exits were closed.

On route planner select the Expansion Wall as your destination, take the highway that is connected to your garage, then go to midnight forest, and from there, you should be able to drive straight to the wall.

The exits unlock after you've done the portal exit. So you have to travel to a place once, 'defeat' it by getting out of it through a gateway. Next time you go back to that place, the exits will be unlocked so you can progress further each run you do. So you can only go as far as you've unlocked, pushing one junction further each time. This is partly why you'll want to unlock the Highways as well (the junctions with the shield icon) because they can skip you one or two junctions at times.
