Autosave needs to STAY THE ♥♥♥♥ AWAY from my saves
Just lost a run because of some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ condition that's literally impossible to counter (of course I didn't initially know what that condition was or I would have never went for it).
Lost due to time and tried to reload my save only to find out it was overwritten without MY PERMISSION by the autosave feature.
As the title say, the autosave should have it own separate slot and leave my saves alone.
If I made them it's for a reason.

Each save makes 2 backups. So you shouldnt have lost much. Go to this folder to find your saves. C:\users\user\AppData\Local\PenDriverPro\Saved\SaveGames

For example. You should see something like this for slot 1. odsave1-backup-2024.03.13-04.10.45. If your game is making backups as it should. You can than use that file. You'll first need to delete odsave1.sav and rename the backup file to the file you just deleted.

Always make sure to do a manual backup before this. Make sure to disable steam cloud first before doing this. If your backup file worked and the game has than saved again over that slot. Once you exit the game you can re-enable steam cloud. GL.

You can edit the amount of backups too in the GameUserSettings.ini. Look for AutoSaveBackupCount=2

I'm aware, unfortunately, I forgot to made a double save that time and got screwed.
Regardless this shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Since autosave overwrites by default, I'm fine with one of the save slots being taken away from me in favor of an auto-save reserved one.

Yes but it's annoying the way it works...usually auto-saves have their own slots or make a SEPARATE save.
Quick examples that comes to mind, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Witcher, Half Life...want me to go on?

Yes but at the same time it's a singleplayer game, so I don't want to sweat lol.
Beside you can already make the game so easy just with the vanilla options menu'.
Enabling this won't break the balance of the game (you aren't even forced to do it lol), but it would save a lot of headcaches.
It's also not a panacea...yeah you would cheat death but at the same time you'd lose X amount of time...for instance in my case, I lost more than an hour worth of progress..

I’ll have to agree with OP. Its an annoying “feature”. I gotta be honest and say I didn’t know that’s how it worked until I really needed to load a previous save. And it was gone because of the overwrite. Sometimes you just make too many stupid decisions on a run and would like to do it over. It is after all a single player game. You’d still have to do everything over again so I don’t see that this is necessarily how it “should work” to make the game harder and the fact that it can simply be worked around by making two saves tells me this isn’t the case. That’s just how they did it. There’s a reason for players saving certain points. - To keep them. Auto save should have its own slot for sure.
