Regardless this shouldn't have happened in the first place.
Since autosave overwrites by default, I'm fine with one of the save slots being taken away from me in favor of an auto-save reserved one.
Quick examples that comes to mind, Mass Effect, Skyrim, Witcher, Half Life...want me to go on?

Yes but at the same time it's a singleplayer game, so I don't want to sweat lol.
Beside you can already make the game so easy just with the vanilla options menu'.
Enabling this won't break the balance of the game (you aren't even forced to do it lol), but it would save a lot of headcaches.
It's also not a panacea...yeah you would cheat death but at the same time you'd lose X amount of time...for instance in my case, I lost more than an hour worth of progress..
Each save makes 2 backups. So you shouldnt have lost much. Go to this folder to find your saves. C:\users\user\AppData\Local\PenDriverPro\Saved\SaveGames
For example. You should see something like this for slot 1. odsave1-backup-2024.03.13-04.10.45. If your game is making backups as it should. You can than use that file. You'll first need to delete odsave1.sav and rename the backup file to the file you just deleted.
Always make sure to do a manual backup before this. Make sure to disable steam cloud first before doing this. If your backup file worked and the game has than saved again over that slot. Once you exit the game you can re-enable steam cloud. GL.
You can edit the amount of backups too in the GameUserSettings.ini. Look for AutoSaveBackupCount=2
