Quirks need a rework
A lot of the subtle ones are whatever. There are some that are just annoying, like the hood popping open when you drive in reverse. Some of these are so unbelievably game breaking that they're inexcusable to have in the game.

Losing multiple runs because the car leaps forward and SLAMS into walls, houses, yeets off cliffs, that's not ok. When you park the car, put the breaks on, leave, and see the car just drive off almost a full mile, and every time you get near it, it just yeets off again. Who thought that was acceptable? Who thought that was fun and enjoyable?

This is such a game breaking quirk that if I'd seen this in the first 2 hours, I'd have refunded the game and never thought of the dev studio again.

I think this stuff is really cool, it's part of the chaos. It's not a super hard game anyway so it's nice to have an extra layer.

You can investigate quirks by test driving before trips anyway.

Pretty sure you can disable quirks or make them super infrequent. :steamhappy:

You can treat quirk in the garage.
Besides, you can change quirk options in the option menu.

meanwhile me using a jolts forwards quirk tied to my headlights toggle to gain speed boosts and drive up slopes I shouldn't be able to drive up....

A game breaking design that actually prevents me from playing any of the game because it happens so frequently when I'm not even near the car. Cool. Glad that's considered good game design. I can't imagine why this game isn't selling very well.

Wow, you definitely got some quirks there! I made mine 'frequent' and now I'm re-considering haha. Mine so far include:

- Reversing the car opens the hood
- Turning on the wipers opens the driver's door
- Closing the trunk beeps the horn

I should really get them fixed but I love the 'charm' too 😅

Considering your car only develops a single quirk per run in my experience (possibly three, if you have them on abundant) it sounds like you aren't diagnosing them on the regular. otherwise, theres plenty of other things in the zone that could also be whats causing this behavior. I had one where my car was being manipulated to work against me, it'd turn off park, honk its horn, flash its headlights, all kinds of things to try to distract me from other threats~ but only so long as I wasn't in the drivers seat. The car needs societal help as well as physical help now, you can't neglect one of them! Or, just turn them off. Game seems to be selling fine, otherwise they'd be really wanting to add that famous mid run save functionality.

I'm sad that i somehow lost my quirk i liked.
Honking the horn closed all the doors

Just turn them off, then. It's right there in the settings. inb4 "hurr durr I shouldn't have to turn it off it should be perfect for me because I'm pwecious"

Id like a hint system, I was having a hell of a time figuring out why my doors kept opening on their own.. turned out it was because my fuel tank was full.

Its a pretty funny feature which makes sense when you think about it. Most I encountered so far were pretty harmless, such as the speedometer spinning wildly after turning on the lights.

There is a hint system, think its called the investigator module. If the cost of some of your lim energy is too much you can even make it free! Anyway,s its part of the garage upgrades.
