If you prepare you wont have to lose 2 hours of progress.
OutoftheLoop Feb 24, 2024 @ 2:07pm
pretty much. all depends on how you prepair and how you drive during those 2+ hours.

to leave a run you just grab energy and leave, takes like 5 minutes. people just want to loot the whole map and complain.

Yes, if you loot too much in a game about looting you'll lose a ton of progress.

This is game where you have no choice but to play in the exact way the dev wants you to. If you try to do anything that doesn't follow the exact rails the dev has laid out you get punished. Play the way your told OR ELSE.

Loot too long? Punished
Don't bring 5 millions types of supplies to repair? Punished
Don't want to play for a minimum of 1 hour without being able to quit? Punished
Try to progress too fast or loot to little? Punished

But don't worry, modders are in progress of adding a bunch of mods to improve the game from its current state.

If you actually play it as designed you spend like 20 mins in each zone. so you save every 20 mins or so. You loot repair materials from 1-4 stops per zone. I'm not sure what game you are playing but its not the game thats actually here in the real world that we are playing.

I don't really understand the save conversation. The game saves every time you enter a new junction. I've never spent more than, at the absolute most, 25-30 minutes in a junction. If you screw up in that time frame, you can just...reload the save at the start of the junction. I've done that. It's not a huge deal. Am I missing something?

I think some people spent forever in the tutorial and so they never figured out the gameplay loop and started whining because they think 100% clearing a place is the way you play.

the rest are just people who've never played the game repeating lies they've been told.

You don't have to lose 2 hours of gameplay with the right settings.
Choose the setting that lets you keep everything on death
Choose the setting that doesn't cause the world to end when you open the gate
Choose the setting that makes every instance perpetually stable

The environment can still kill you but you won't lose anything. If you decide you want to save the game all you need to do is start a gate pillar then drive up to it, there's no hurry, and save when you get to the garage.

Well the only issue I have with this game that I'm running out of storage and can't use the garage as store place.
But that happens on me with every game, unless you can create infinite storage space there.

The pneumatic lockers seems unlimited so far, at least haven't reached a limit yet and I have more things stored in one of them than can fit in every single other locker combined.
It costs 1.5 unstable energy to unlock which you can get from regular mid-zone or extreme outer zone, and resources that are fairly common.

OR ELSE... change the settings?

The difficulty settings and accessibility settings in Pacific Drive are fantastic.

Open up the settings and fix your problems. The game already caters to your play style, you just need to tell it what you want.

This game is at its core a rogue-like. Which means if you die mid-run you loose items. This has been the way of rogue-likes since SNES.

There are settings in the game which let you keep all items if you die. it does disable achievements which it should. basically cheating.

Removing the penalty removes all of the challenge and fun from the game IMO. Why should I bother to learn the game and upgrade my car when i can just die and fast travel back to base.... Might as well not even play.

The problem is, the game has stability issues, so it's not just a penalty on death, but also if you crash - which is not your fault at all.

Well the dev actually included options to change the game play directly in the menu so you can just change those to the settings you like.
