Anyone gotten the AMP engine how much battery does it drain?
I've gotten a fair amount of Unstable Energy and I am looking at upgrading the engine but already have a spare battery and running low on power at times. So I want to know if I should upgrade to the AMP or Make the Turbolight.

Unfortunately the tooltip doesn't easily explain the drain and I don't really want to mess around with saving building and testing if someone already has that info.

It drains pretty fast, 20-30 Battery per junction. It's great for short range farming, or in my case I had a trip planned with 2XFuel Evaporation. Keep in mind you can store fully charged batteries inside storage, or even the fuel engine and bring that with you. Also Battery Charger and Plasma Charger.

So good for short runs only or take a bunch of spare power?
Might stay relying on the Fuel then and use the energy to unlock other upgrades before it.

Thanks for the info mate.

I wonder if having the battery charger upgrades (mini turbine, hydro generator, and solar panel) would help?

once you start going fast enough you actually start gaining battery power if you're using mini turbines

if you use 2 mini turbines(the faster you move the more they charge your battery), 1 hydro generator, and a solar panel on your 4 side racks you'll be completely fine for the most part, still a good idea to bring battery jump starters just in case

Quick note, it doesn't seem that the AMP Engine runs on a side battery for some reason. Seems that was a waste of resources.

Sounds like a bug but good to know.

Running with Amp engine, 2x wind turbines, a hydro and solar and it just eats power.. Possibly my 1st run was at night, it didn't rain and wasn't windy so not the best but with 2x leak proof batteries in the back seats (cant afford roof battery yet it was eating power. made it through 2 zones with power to space but quickly crafted (possibly overkill 5 plasma chargers) - ran 1st area locations and got loads of plasma. so hoping be enough for a long run.
I have noticed that the amp engine itself does need to be repaired fairly often, mechanics tool. so best bring some with you too. was using 1 per zone. (may have been my habits of finding trees right in front of me while going cross country?
Presume if i find a wet, windy location (or just driving at speed) it may sustain itself. however until i can get an anchor energy converter i'm being overly cautious (also have roof cargo so can afford plasma charger's taking space)
In short don't recycle your fuel engine and storage until you've run with it for a few drives.. and probably best not wonder why you upgraded your engine ever!
