There are no games like this and that's why it gets good reviews.
There are literally no games like this. Driving in a car to stop and explore intriguing locations? Some open world games like Far Cry, but in those you know what to expect after a while. My Summer Car and the likes. But it's mainly driving/repairing.
And this game is nothing special. But because there's no competition and no way to compare it to better products, this gets good reviews.
I would say this game gets driving WRONG. You fast travel, then you drive on a mapped road. There is nothing to surprise you. You know ever turn. Also, you don't really drive much, the maps ain't big. You don't feel like you've driven somewhere. It's like a ride to a nearby grocery store.

Game should have no map. You should drive faster, longer and better physics, and only sometimes stop at bigger, really interesting locations, not some trailers on the side of the road to gather endless basic loot. Then you would have something interesting. Or it would be the best if the whole game was a very long drive from point A to point B.

As it stands now, this is nothing new or interesting, just with a slow car. Also, the dialogue destroys the atmosphere.

I dont know man, it looks like you judged the game way too quick. That first area that you played before you refunded the game is on the smaller and easier side.

Yes, the roads are mapped out, but the obstacles and anomalies that populate the area are not, and often times you will find yourself blindsided by them. I've only experienced the outer zone anomalies so far and even then there have been times where I was cornered and had to think quickly to get out unscathed. Sometimes entire sections of road will be inaccessible due to some horrid existential threat and you'll need to find your own path or shortcut. Granted, this is usually as simple as driving around the road, but still - unexpected stuff can happen.

There also comes a point very soon in the game where you no longer need to stop at every single house and wrecked car on the road, and instead set your sights upon specific structures with higher tier resources. Which is good, because the future levels have a storm that slowly sets over the map, forcing you to put some extra thought into where you stop and how you spend your time on a level.

Its a good game. The map thing is a weird aspect to get fixated upon. I agree it would be really cool if you actually drove down long highways to get to junctions, but the game isn't designed around that sort of thing at all. And if the junctions were not mapped out, the game would be near impossible - you'd spend 40 minutes driving around aimlessly before dying to radiation because you couldn't find an exit.

I don't feel like im driving somewhere. I feel like im driving around neighborhood, just with weird ♥♥♥♥ around. If i was to drive through the forest pretty fast for a few minutes, and then stop and explore a big mansion or an underground base, it would be amazing. But these maps are so small, i know the layout, and the game gets formulaic pretty fast. This doesn't get me the feeling of driving, the car is too slow, the physics too simple. But i will keep playing.
