BUG: Right Mouse button is hard wired as "Throw Item"
I use the right mouse button to walk forwards. While the game allows me to use the right mouse button for this, it also seems to have it hardwired as "Throw item in hand" and there is no way to rebind throw to any other key. It does not appear on the binds list.

Please just give us a way to bind Throw to another key, and I'm all good. Until then, it will be very frustrating to play the game for me.

Thx

Woah, you are the OTHER person in the world that uses right for forward like I do!(thanks EverQuest) My problem is, I can bind forward to right mouse, it shows it in the keybind menu, then it just doesnt do anything.

I see one patch that said mouse keys werent bindable. Then the next patch they said they were, but it still does nothing for me. Sigh.

Edit: Crazy, I just loaded up the game again and right mouse is moving forward! Now I just have your problem, im throwing everything Im holding. Theres a drop item button thats keyed to X. Is that different than throw item?

Yeah, I dove through all the binds, rebound all the mouse binds temporarily just to see if one of them was involved with throwing an item as a secondary effect, but alas, the throw function seems to be hard wired to right mouse button. I'm guessing there is a setting under the hood (it's the UE engine), it just needs to be exposed in the UI.

Even worse, you can't work around it by binding a secondary key as forward because, for some deranged reason, there is no secondary for forward. They confusingly use forward/back as one setting, and the primary is one direction, and the secondary is another.

I tried looking for an .ini file containing the binds in the appdata folder, but it does not exist. It may be embedded in the game save file.

I'm liking the game, and want to support the devs, so I'm not refunding it. I'll just put it aside until it's, hopefully, fixed. I also ran into the game breaking bug in the garage that occurs if you do any of the tutorial actions before being prompted, and can't finish prepping the car. So I'm back at the point where I teleported into the area just before the garage, because the game is not saved until you complete the garage tutorial.

I'll let the game simmer and stew for a few weeks and check back. If anyone finds a workaround for the bind issue before the devs fix it, please post.

And yeah, I'm an old gamer. I think it was the original shareware Doom or Duke Nukem 3D that used the right mouse as forward, and I've used that ever since,

Another "me too". I've been using the right mouse button as forward as long as I can remember. Please, if you give us the ability to change keymappings, give us the ability to change ALL keymappings!

Glad I found this discussion. I'm the same. I use the right mouse button to walk. I've done this for years. I couldn't figure out why I kept dropping things until I saw the binding. Devs, please allow for the removal of Drop from the right mouse button. Otherwise an excellent game. Only played a couple of hours but loving it.

I use right mouse to jump. Yep, I'm that kind of psycho. My Logitech software allows me to change the right mouse button to another button. BUT, this game does not recognize it's been changed. Never in 20 years have I had a game ignore that. Of course, this one does. Talk about !#$*ing hardwired. I'll be slinging items for a bit till I can remember to holster before jumping. lol

+1 Finally got the Ultrawide stuff sorted via workarounds, and now this....

Rebinding right mouse to W in logi software worked for me.

"Rebinding right mouse to W in logi software worked for me."

You can also do this using a 3rd party app called X-Mouse Button Control, which I've used in the past to work around games that won't allow binding keys to a mouse button, and is probably what I'll do to make it work in this game, although I'm still holding out for a fix.

BTW: This workaround was not possible while the "Throw" function was not bindable, but they seem to have made it bindable in a recent update. However, annoyingly, even with a different key bound to "throw", the right mouse button still throws items no matter what it's bound to.

Quick follow up. That did work for me. Used X-Mouse Button Control to map the right mouse button as 'W' and then, used the game's key bind settings to bind 'Throw item' to the backspace key.

I'd like to remap the throw key as well, I have right click set to "zoom" but I've lost a few crowbars flinging them into the darkness trying to get a closer look at something...

Anyone else have issues where the right button is also the default for GUI actions? I'm stuck right now because I can't seem to select a destination on the map because it wants me to click on it with the right mouse button (I think)

I've just got a bad habit of accidentally tapping the right mouse at random. Love to find out I left my scrapper 100 feet behind me.
Look! There are dozens of us! DOZENS!

I also use the RMB as forward. I flagged this as a bug to the developer but I doubt anything will be done about it. In the meantime, I had to create an ad-hoc profile for my mouse with one of the extra button set as RMB and the actual RMB set as a random key that's now set as "move forward" ingame.
