The encyclopedic amount of text they put in it of uninteresting anecdotes boggles me.
world building I guess.
Exactly! Even the Resource section is pointless. Like ok I can get scrap metal in the Forest, BUT FROM WHAT!?! Or how the Thermosap Crystals can be gotten from Armored car parts (Squire or Investigator) but those don't count as sources and thus doesn't mention that they're found in the Outer Zone.
Hell, even the status page is useless. Got Charged on a part of my car and went to check the entry, all it said was Wait and don't get it wet. Ok, what happens when it gets wet? Or the Peculiar status, it apparently means it can't be repaired so use it till it breaks.
It has no useful information or descriptions. I don't even bother oppening it after the first several scans of anomalies, when I saw that it's just a waste of time to read any of that.
You are really new to this world, and the game want you to explore all aspect, this is why there is this gorgeous in game menus and infos
It take maybe 2 or 3 min to think and you find how it is working, and it is nice when you undertand by yourself, also it is not so complicated.
Just put the music on and read and try to understand by listening the loud music during a storm :)
sometime do not read, just watch the icon/ symbol on the log,
I finished the story without finding a single Olympium stone.
Best part?
The description is wrong. It says they can be found in smokestacks, but only ones i found are in red spires.
The quirks are a nightmare to figure out, some dont make even sense.
In reality the only way to fix them is to get the upgrade and spending resources to have it shown and then guess the rest.
I'm pretty sure they had to rush the last third of the game, that would explain the extremely disappointing ending and all the stuff missing from the logbook. I finished the game with only steel parts on my car and it took another ~20 hours to get all the olympium upgrades after finishing the story. I was aiming to 100% it but looking for the logbook entries is just tedious and not fun at all.
As much fluff as they want and as many logs as they want, but at some point in every entry they have to describe the item and what the heck it does.
Like, the abductor log: sure, the "getting stuck up a tree" log is great: but i'd love if they had said "latches on to movable objects, attracted to inorganic light sources" and then I could figure out to throw a flare for it to chase.
I really feel for whoever wrote all these logs, because it's clear they wanted to set a mysterious tone and part of the mystery is lost when information is just given to you - but it's just frustrating on the player's end.
I kicked the crap out of a happy bunny because by this point bunnies have conditioned me to just boot the darn things and then scrap them. The log mentions that it's a helpful anomaly and i figured out it was beneficial well after removing it from my roof rack and reducing it to scrap.
Oh, don't get me started. I had seven quirks i needed to diagnose and repair by the time any one of them annoyed me.
When "Car Crashes: Dashboard Flickers" was one of them.
Even with the quirk fixed, if you crash your car, the dashboard flickers.it's part of the visual car crash feedback.
