So I just had a weird moment and wonder if the game is messing with me...
I'm on my third outing (Reach Town quest) and still figuring out a few things here and there.

So I was rolling down the first stretch of road on the map I'm on, loot a car trunk and get back in the car... a few meters further, I see the outline of something to the left of the road... shine my car lights on it, a weird circle of Tourists. I figure maybe there's some special loot around them as a kind of challenge. Put the car in park, lighting up the circle... before I walk in, I see Abductors pathing my way... I make sure I'm not in the way and it seems to ignore the car, fine. As I'm searching the circle of Tourists and not finding anything, I hear some odd sounds in the distance that I should have paid more attention to (still haven't learned which sounds are what yet). When I turn, I see an Abductor with red lights on heading my way. I think it's coming for me but then see its plunger on my car trailing behind him and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flings the car into the Tourists... which I got out of enough to come out with 60% health.

Now... I figured if the abductors spotted the car, they may just leave it a little further for me to go back to. Does it usually seek out the player to fling the car at it? Was it because it saw my in the circle of Tourists? Would it just fling the car into Tourists, if near, by default?

Was just a cool "Oh shi..." moment

... Aaaand now I see it might also have been the flare in my hands. I was just scrapping a car a little further down and dropped a flare and now the 2 Abductors that were around are basically playing catch with my flare...

I think Abductors are interested in your car only and not you, and just drag the car randomly rather than flicking it anywhere.

What you witnessed was a beautiful coincidence where random abductors and game's physics both contributed to screwing you over.

I've had one throw my car off a cliff. after driving 15minutes to get up the damn thing and it happened right before I got to the point I was aiming for. They're annoying as ♥♥♥♥ but you can get an upgrade that zaps them away I believe(I've not tried it yet myself but have it equipped).

I've seen weird things too though. I'm not spoiling it because I do get the feeling this game is going to throw a "Holy ♥♥♥♥" moment at me when I least expect it. Sometime like there being an actual humanoid monster that jumps out and chases you down and not these passive abductors who aggro when you're really near them or bunny hoppers and all that not so scary stuff. I'm pretty sure I've seen a figure walking around only to check with a flashlight and nothing be there. Then randomly Oppie started talking about how Bigfoot wasn't real and not to pay any attention to Francis and Flint(Is that his name?).

I'm also sure those "tourists" have turned to face me once or twice when I've turned my back or just flat out appear out of thin air. Either way it's done so well and so rarely that I'm constantly checking myself to see if I'm just making it up in my head.

lol first time i met the bunnies was when i stopped because of a tourist blockade, as i sat there for about 3 seconds deciding which way around i wanted to go (it was a messy area) i hear a weird noise...

the next 5 seconds are a blur, explosions, alot of them, spinning things flying through the air, plop plop plop, can't see windshield is blocked, I panic and floor it, more explosions, car going bonkers, hit a tree, put it in park and get out to figure out what even has attacked me.

The game turned into a micheal bay movie for a second all because some bunnies ran into tourists launching them into the air at me. Every once in a while this games randomness lines up perfectly lol

One time i got out of my car and saw a horde of tourists pretty far out silhouetted in the fog, thought to myself "creepy" and went in and looted the building, came back out and that horde was right next to my car... they moved ALOT and as a group, it looked like they were in full sprint poses with some of them running on all 4s.... i noped out hard.

I've noticed more than a few move when they are in groups, usually its just 1 or 2 that will move, i also swear i had one run up to me when i was grabbing an anchor, i ran up in a straight line grabbed it and when i turned around BOOM... but that is the only time i saw a group of them basically stampeding

I just had a moment where I was trying to blow up a group of Tourists with flares. After clearing a group (and getting no Thermosap Crystals, damnit) there was a lit flare still on the ground. An Abductor came over, grabbed the flare, and threw it at another group of Tourists! Then when I was about to head off, the same Abductor flew my way and dropped a Thermosap Crystal on me. Twice!

Man, this game is weird.

Abductors are attracted to heat and the flares especially get their attention. I use a flare gun to distract them.

The bumper ability that throws them off is a wonderful thing, and really useful for a few other beasties in the zone. You probably just got unlucky with the interaction, theres a fair few anomoly combos out there which just sort of happen...earlier i hit an anomoly which then flung me into the path of another...kinda cool when it happens, though i feel sorry for the car.

The tourists move, I didn’t read all the way through the thread so idk if anyone had brought it up. I also have not stuck around long enough to find out what happens when they catch you.

Tourists just explode. I don't think they ever catch you. The most I've seen is them moving when you turn away. At most they'll breath down your neck so you just learn to turn before just blindly walking back. I turned around once while packing things up after stopping to loot a few houses and nearly bumped into one that was much farther last time I saw it.

Abductors will grab anything they can, including the player. however, they will steal whatever's in your hands first before grabbing you directly. they will prioritize grabbing flares and bunny anomalies before anything else. Also, they will "babysit" bunny anomalies they catch, remaining above them and staying there while ignoring EVERYTHING ELSE until the bunny is moved. (use bunny anomalies to make them ignore you and your car while looting or to help clear an important path before activating a gateway)

Oh no... they'll be definitely interested in you too. Once I got flung into a tourist crowd. From what I can tell, they tend to pull whatever they're towing towards an anomaly or a hard surface.
