Grayed out routes?

Heya im trying to go to the previous routes ive been to before to explore and get a little more gear but there grayed out is there anyway to get them back?

When leaving the garage and passing the gate out of the safe zone, you'll be shown a map. That one lets me select areas I've been to before, regardless of what I've picked on the projector map in the garage.

i just would love to know why they are greyed out? some of which i already went to are grey some aren't. why is that? even if i can go there after jumping out of save zone i would still like to know what it is and why i cant select it. for example i want to go to a location with high vehicle density to farm armored vehicles but i cant go there since i cant select it so even if i jump out the save zone, i cant drive "through" the zone since no exit will be opened since i didnt chose the route? im a bit confused with the rout planer tbh. love the game but some things confuse me.

you cant select routes that have no stable exits as your DESTINATION.

you can choose another spot as destination and pass those spots as you go. but choosing that as a destiniation would lead you to a dead end zone you cant escape from. instead choose a place with a valid escape zone and then drive through said zone to get there

ooohh you mean these things you activate which create the huge light pillars u escape from. i assume its random when its stable or not? thanks for explaining now it makes sense. thx
