system requirements
Why are they so high? I don't think I've seen any game with higher requirements, and I've seen a lot. The game looks like something from 15 years ago so there's no reason for that. More optimisation needed?

You can't say this looks much better than Subnautic or The Long Dark. So 15 years seems kind of accurate.

Not only that but off the top of my head there is Crysis(2007), an obvious contender, and Valve's own Left 4 Dead games. Of course there are countless more examples.

I do have to agree, given the graphics I've seen thus far, it does fall in the realm of 10-15 years ago. The system demands appear completely out of whack.

As I was told when I got my education in Computer Science, greater hardware efficiency encourages greater software inefficiency. Meaning, the better the hardware gets, the lazier the programmers become. This isn't meant as a slight on the devs here, I don't know what their engine is, and in many cases the fault really lies inside the moving parts of the engine rather than anything the game developers did individually in their own higher-level programming.
