by Pin I meant make a waypoint. I think it even makes you confirm it.
you can't open them if you're too close. the bar on the right side tells you how much energy you need to collect to be able to open a portal (i think red bar?)
If you hover over them, a circle will appear, you have to be outside this circle to activate them (just click them on the map). If you're too close to them they might show as an X.
After clicking them you have to run to the position of the icon you clicked, because the zone will become unstable, and you will die if you stay in the instability.
Incidentally, any node labeled with the "Dead End: Do Not Enter" modifier is literally such, and you will not even be able to teleport back in these zones as they have no accessible portal points back.
