VR
this game has all of the mechanics to be a stellar VR game. it would actually make some of the mechanics even more intuitive. I really hope they consider making a VR version for this game. What are some of your thoughts on the Idea.

While I was going through the game settings it felt like it was almost designed for VR.
There are options to black out the screen while the car tumbles and some other VR specific anti nausea type options.
Weird.

My thoughts exactly, hopefully something the devs consider in the future, it is Unreal Engine so UEVR should work fine for this game but something more official would be nice

The game works fantastic in UEVR.

are you playing with a controller?

Quest 3 motion controls with 6DoF attachments.
Using a profile and custom plugin which fixes the in car controls with the motion controls.
It also auto starts the ignition and releases the hand brake, and vice versa when you exit the car.

eh, i wouldnt say "most unique VR game" like for example, no mans sky can be played in VR, alyx did an amazing job VR wise too. so, "most unique" ... eh probably not. VR game of the year? ... eh ... do we even have an award for that yet? XD.

The game as a whole looks very unique, and could translate in a very unique vr game. Just for the driving gameplay part alone, i don't think there is something similar in VR (not considering the racing sims, because de facto are simulators).

Close but no cigar. It falls flat with the excessive inventory management (because hey who doesn't love playing backpack tetris its SO unique), see Skyrim for an example. If they redid inventory closer to Alyx somehow, then yeah this could almost be pretty sweet. But even then, you would absolutely need a steering wheel on your desk. "Pretending" to drive a car with your hands hovering in mid air for hours at a time? lol no thanks. So now you have a steering wheel. And you ABSOLUTELY need a chair to sit in. What the hell do you do with this when you need to leave your car?

Suddenly the concept just falls apart. Unfortunately.

For people who don't see the difference between pantomiming a driving position, and running around with your hand like a gun for hours, its a matter of relatively static position vs a highly dynamic and more personally interactive one. It's also the difference of a tactile response where one is both expected and very much needed. Kind of why VR sword games just feel wrong but you can get away with guns and archery (the latter ironically made better because your arm gets tired).

I guarantee you somebody will mod it tho. And it will look so cool until you have to play it for more than ten minutes.

Unique doesen't mean good, better or universally positive.

Games like VTOL VR or Vox Machinae use pantomiming and i think they have their unique appeal. I agree that mime for an hour the driving position is not ideal, is just painful, but with good design like being able to rest your elbows on the desk (or simply not extending excessively horizontally your harms), things change dramatically. Also doesen't seems like you have to drive for so much in a row, you loot a lot and drive in relatively short bursts.

In some VR games also your are not forced to stand, a lot of games let you choose between sitting and standing position, so i don't think there is a problem when you have to exit the car. Camera go higher and you can still play sitted if you want.

What this game excel in, i think is atmosphere, and not being able to play in VR for as long as flat screen i don't think diminish the experience.

Also a game like Kayak VR Mirage, makes pantomiming a strenght.

@PanterA Nice! I just got an HTC Vive Pro 2 headset, I should set this up. Be a good learning process so I know how to set it up for any unreal 4/5 game.

BTW Devs if you ever add VR, Please just make it a paid DLC rather than a seperate VR version of the game!

I think it would be perfect for VR. I have it on PS5, but would gladly buy it again on PC for VR.

The only issue I could forsee, is that I feel the devs intentionally made it challenging to navigate the map while driving. They didn't have to put it directly out of view from the Player, they chose to. With VR you would basically circumvent that challenge because we are all proficient in our ability to glace over to the passenger side while driving. Low resolution headsets might make it difficult to actually read the thing, but that's not really an issue with modern headsets.
