No wonder why DLSS runs so badly, its DLSS v2.3! Update to DLSS v3.5.10!
All right so i was wondering why the hell this game ran so badly in 4K with DLSS on and to my surprise its because they shipped it with DLSS V2.3, an October 11th, 2021 version!

Plus this game, in its current version anyway, has a MASSIVE performance problem with shadows, so drop this setting to MEDIUM and you will have a super playable experience with 4K + DLSS 3.5.1 @ Quality preset that hovers from 65-90 in my 3070

So, to fix this simply follow these steps:

1.- Download newest DLSS 3.5.1 from here.[www.techpowerup.com]

2.- Unzip and place this single DLL file to the folder: Pacific Drive\PenDriverPro\Plugins\DLSS\Binaries\ThirdParty\Win64

You can replace and overwrite the one you've got or just rename it to nvngx_dlss.dll.OLD before overwriting to keep your old DLSS file.

3.- Launch the game, set SHADOWS to MEDIUM and enjoy!

I am on an AMD 6800XT, but I will definitely lower my shadows more and hope that stabilizes performance. I don't see a DLSS or FSR option in the menu either way.

Oh yeah, for AMD gamers just set your shadows to mid and you will see a massive bump to performance. This is the 1st thing they need to focus when trying to optimize in future patches. Low just removes almost all shadows and make it look pretty bland, dull and lifeless. Mid does the trick without taking RT Path-Tracing levels of performance LoL!

Just wondering how your shadows look at medium? They're unplayably ugly on my machine at 2560x1440, just huge glitchy constantly-flickering blobs everywhere. I thought this was the case for everyone, but maybe not?

For me it looks the same just not as dark, so what I do is I also lower the in-game gamma by 3 and it looks about the same as if it was on ultra.

Exactly! Mid seems less shadows overall and a bit lighter than high but absolutely playable. I'd take that bump on performance over a bit darker shadows any day!

I saw better overall picture clarity, like better defined borders and stuff. Combine Updated DLSS 3.5 with Medium Shadows and its perfectly playable @ 4K whereas before was blurrier and sub 40 FPS

That’s not even the main issue

Game is heavily cpu hardwalled

why you bother to do these dlss steps manually, when dlss swapper is out there, huh?

I updated it when playing a demo and didn't see any performance improvements, maybe a bit less DLSS artifacts.

After DLSS 2.4 there aren't really any performance improvements to image scaling. Some games which were patched with old DLSS 2.2 version or similar, can have more visual artifacts when scaling image with DLSS version 3.5.10. You should check it per game if there is any improvement after swapping DLLs.

List of DLSS changes.

Yep, DLSS versions change ocluision maskings and other stuff, but no idea hwo they would chnage performance? Performance boost comes from the lower resolution.
Something is wring with the base game, not DLSS, since lowering resolution dosnt give a big fps diffrence, no matter if im at 4k or 1080p i struggle to stay above 60fps.

Would it have benefits to do this with a 3xxx series gpu?

The easier way to update your DLSS versions in games is to use DLSS Swapper. Less need to fuss about with renaming things etc.
Slackerdude74 Feb 26, 2024 @ 11:33am
I downloaded and updated the game with that dlss3 and there is no difference in fps or performance.
