question about different storms
do someone know the little question i have. i read there are different instability storms. the yellow one that makes our live "unpleasant" and the red storm that kills us. xD with the option that we got to disable storms. there is one option to disable storms because of instability and one that triggers a storm if you start the arc devise. do red storms trigger on both options or maybe only with the arc devise activation to return?

thank you in forward to answers.

From what I've gathered, the yellow storm is just radiation. I've not seen anyone in the red storm yet. Don't know if it's instant death or just damage.

But if you turn off the storms (either the time based ones, or the ones triggered by opening a gateway), then no storm appears at all. The yellow storm closes in first and the red follows behind it normally. But if you have them off, then you can take as long as you want.

Red is max radiation and causes rapid heavy damage get to the portal ASAP before it destroys everything

Sometimes in a junction zone, green storm clouds can form on the map. These are "hurricanes", and will toss your car around, over cliffs, and through trees. They will mess your car up, but probably not kill you. Drive around them, they go away quickly. The detour is less time than fixing your car up afterwards.

If you stick around awhile, the "yellow" storm appears. It is basically a zone wide "hot dust" radiation anomaly, causing light radiation damage to your car. It slowly engulfs the map, taking 5 - 10 minutes to cover the entire thing. And then another few minutes to destroy your car, depending on your rad resist. A full lead lined car can basically swim in the stuff for ages.

If you activate a warp point, the yellow zone appears immediately, and is MUCH faster. It will cover the entire zone in about 30 seconds. In the early game, this pushes you to race to the exit. But again, the damage is pretty minor.

If you stick around in the "fast" yellow zone, a "red" zone starts appearing as well. This is a much stronger radiation storm, and will melt your car in about 60 seconds. Which sounds like a lot of time, but your tires are going to pop, windshield crack, and engine malfunction after a few seconds of exposure. Crawling to the exit on rims is not a fun time, but is survivable if you are close to the exit. And you can expect a hefty repair bill and a half dozen quirks if you get back.

Now, does a "red" zone appear with the "slow" yellow storm? I don't know. You would already be dead by the time it reached you anyway.

Does full lead panels/doors/bumpers greatly reduce damage from the yellow/red storm?

This is actually only one kind of storm cloud that can appear; another is the Seismic Squall, which causes swarms of ground-based anomalies (e.g. Bollards and Shakers) to rapidly spread throughout the area covered by the storm.

Yes, at least for yellow.

There's actually some secret events that happen during the storm after at least 50% of the map is covered in the light storm, so it's worth your while to stick around if you can. There's some very nice rewards.

Presumably, radiation protection and the ion shield should protect against most of the red storm as well, as I'm pretty sure the primary damage causer is maxxed out radiation...
...but there's other things in the storm as well.

I didn't know there was more loot in the yellow storm! Thanks for the information.

If you have lead parts you will have zero damage by the storm(red to). But only until car hp in yellow-green zone https://imgur.com/a/uVIwyZU

Not just that, those hurricanes can have various effects. had one that caused haywire effects with my car a las left-right anomalies. one was just radiation, another was, well, stormy so stuff was blown away... even the car unless i parked it in a place it couldn't roll away from.
