Vacuum storage losing items?
I love games that minimise mass inventory management but having 90 percent of my items disappear is quite annoying. Coming from a big looting run dump everything into the vacuum and go straight out to collect anchors for research. When I come back there is a few pieces of rubber one piece of scrapped and one electronic. Where did the rest of my stuff go? I was starting to think items were being lost when vacuumed into garage storage but this time I have proof. I was also storing a number of panels as well as fax items that have also disappeared. Brought my whole playthrough screeching to a halt I don't really feel like playing if my stuff keeps disappearing.

The vaccum isn't a storage, it just picks up any items laying around in the workshop in case you cant find any items that are on the floor. Thats why. You have to put the stuff into the yellow lockers

then why on earth does it present itself as storage!! If this is just a signposting problem this can be a real deal breaker for some people. I really enjoyed the zero effort required inventory management.

Yeah, very poor design choice. I've lost a lot of stuff to this, apparently. :steamfacepalm:

Well... Live and learn... Next time clean up your mess and stop looking for the easy way out.

I told my kids, if you leave your ♥♥♥♥ out for too long, I'm throwing it away.

I lost tons of stuff to that thing, I thought it was supposed to pick up whatever was loose and spit it out inside the trunk. I didn't even realize it could be accessed like a locker and thought it was all gone for good... which it is now, of course - I've gotten so used to just using the hand vac I don't even use it.

Lol. Lmao.

"Honey? Where's all the food?"
"I put it in that new storage unit in the sink! That thing is great, you can just keep shoving things down there all day and it never fills up!"

There is a skull + a clock on the thing = items will be destroy after some time.

Consider rushing the garage upgrade to pneumatic lockers. you'll just need the one and while it doesnt solve your loss it will provide all the storage you'll need

I'm not convinced the vacuum is the problem. Items seem to be deleted from all of the storage options. Will items disappear from some random locker in this unstable world?
The items in the vacuum show up as being in your inventory. Why on earth would they get deleted? This is a resource gathering game, and there is no assurance that you will be able to keep anything you gather. This game just went from one of my favorite games to a completely broken game. I have no desire to go on another run.

I have never had an item disappear from a normal locker.

Sounds like operator error to me.

And how the hell can your opinion of a game go from 10 to 0 that quickly?

like... in a game with like 10 locker storage upgrades i don't know why people would think the auto thing that sucks up everything and has infinite room would be a storage option. its like people think game makers are brain dead and do things without reason lol.

I'm baffled as to why anyone would think the device obviously meant to help you find items rolling around the floor is storage. its not called a locker its called a vacuum. do you store your stuff in your vacuum at home? lol I just don't understand how so many people came to this conclusion.

I've seen the devs announce this is how the vacuum works as well as communicate directly with content creators to tell them that its not a bug and that they were being silly.

also whats probably happening is that you're pulling stuff from the lockers automatically while crafting and you don't realize thats where its pulling from. I've never seen an item vanish except a panel that fell through the floor but the vacuum saved and i got back.

the skull an crossbones on it made me consider it might deleting stuff... but that might not click for everyone. The part that is confusing is the fact that SOME items delete and SOME do not. They should in fact all delete as a way to get rid of stuff. Instead it gives the impression of long term storage when it never is.
