[BUG] The world lights flicker
As soon as the game starts the sky lights start to flicker. I tried changing everything in the "video" menu, pushed all the way to low and then all the way to ultra. Same results.
The flickering seemed to happen on the menu as well, the tan menu flickered.

I tried to alt tab to make sure it wasn't my monitor, as soon as Steam popped up there was no flickering.

Does anyone know a work around? It is almost impossible focus on the gameplay with that flickering going on.

Oh, and by the way, this did not happen on the demo build.

This might be a driver issue - are you using an Nvidia or an AMD GPU?

I have a RTX 3070 Ti, I am using the latest drivers available, 551.52 (released 2024-02-13).
I tried running the game again, I tried both in DX11 and DX12.

Let me know if you need any more info.

I made another test, I have two monitors. As I play the game it flickers, if I leave the game running but alt tab to something on my other monitor (the game is still open and running on the main monitor) the flickering stops.

Does the flickering change if you disable DLSS or adjust any other quality settings related to lighting, shadows, etc?

I guess I found out what the problem is.
My main monitor has a refresh rate of 144hz and it flickers when I play on it.
I moved the game to my secondary screen (60hz) and it stopped flickering.

So I tried changing the refresh rate of my monitor to find where the problem starts.
The game runs normally up to 99hz, if I pick any option greater than 99hz the game flickers.

For now I will play the game as is (changing my monitor refresh rate to 99hz), but maybe this is something you guys might want to have a look at.

Yeah this one does sound pretty odd, I'll pass it on to the team, thanks!

Thank you for your reply.
Great game by the way!

Hi,

I'm also having the same issue, I have monitor with up to 175Hz, and as DMadJohn said, it's fine up to 100Hz, the more Hz over 100 the worse the flickering gets.
For me, the flickering is only visible on dark surfaces, inside dark rooms etc. The issue happens both with HDR enabled and disabled, so I don't think that it's causing it.

Also, thanks DMadJohn for the fix to this issue :)

I'm also having the same issue with flickering, which seems to be mainly noticeable on dark areas as @Dekopon stated.
I'm using a S95C, and the flickering doesn't seem to be affected by my framerate.
Also, I don't seem to have the option to enable HDR, and can only force it through the Windows "Auto HDR".

The issue is not the framerate, it's refresh rate of the monitor, I'm chaging mine in Nvidia Control Panel, in game I get ~80 fps anyway. When it comes to HDR, I'm turning it on or off in display settings on Windows - but it depends if your monitor supports HDR or not.

I see, thank you for confirming. That would explain why the same flickering persisted regardless of capping the framerate (and speaking of framerate, I noticed it's incredibly sporadic for me. It's constantly bouncing between 30-144 even though I'm using Rivatuner to globally limit fps to 119. And that's regardless of settings, which is strange as I've never seen a game on my system ignore the cap until now)
Reducing my refresh rate does indeed seem to fix the issue though!
Hopefully this is rectified in the near future though as I haven't had to adjust my refresh rate for a game before.

As for HDR, I have the "use HDR" toggle on, but it seems that this doesn't apply for this game specifically (at least for me) as brightness seems to be controlled by the "SDR content brightness" instead of defaulting to max HDR Brightness.
"Auto HDR" does seem to remedy this, albeit to a rather unimpressive degree, though I've found Nvidia's RTX HDR implementation to be fantastic! (Though unfortunately that seems to cap at 1000 nits, so I can't utilise the extra 350 nits on my display)

Other than these very minor issues though, I'm really enjoying my time with this game so far!

FYI just for anyone else finding this thread via Google. For me adjusting refresh rate did nothing, but turning shadow quality up to high/ultra fixed the flickering. Flickering was low quality shadows, I guess.

so...the game have or doesnt have HDR?

Doesn't have HDR and it still flickers with my 165 hz monitor.
