It's a challenge in the face of overwhelming odds. It fits lore wise as well.
Considering that you are complaining about this beautiful chaos, would I be right to assume you haven't even attempted a naked run?
Welp, that is an intended feature. Everything is randomized. You can see some details about how the area would be when setting destination in the garage. There are a few upgrades you can get that will help with this gameplay mechanic, like rerolling and skipping junctions.
Heh, naked as in no doors, panels, or bumpers. Fun stuff.
I don't blame you if you don't like this gameplay mechanic, but it is what it is. The developer made it this way. Honestly, this doesn't feel like this should be a discussion, but maybe should be a review?
I've driven through the acid rain conditions and while it did damage some parts, it was fine as long as I kept driving. It was a junction I had to cross to reach a safer one; I wouldn't recommend trying to loot junctions with these types of conditions.
In my last session I barley made it out of a zone which showed an "Extreme conditions" warning upon entering and man everything was so aggressive, weather kept changing from super foggy to pouring rain etc, night & day, multiple abductors chasing me, electric anomalies popping out of the ground causing a fence / barrier of electricity, an anomaly barrier that launches your car in the air if you cross it (oops) which of course launched me right into a pole, also I heard a siren not knowing what it was but apparently you're timed in each zone before the final death storm closes in, i'm guessing the time varies depending on random zone conditions as well.
I'm really digging the game it feels so different for a change.
To be more accurate it was I believe something like, low cloud anomalies which increased the range of storm anomalies and keeps one always on the map and corrosive rain modifier but then a corrosive storm on the map as well. The storm took up the entire map though, which was maybe because it was a smaller map?
I wanted to go through and leave ASAP but the moment I just got into the map all of my tires instantly went flat. I got out and then everything just started to explode on me. I was effectively at the spawn point of the area. I drove about 5-10 seconds.
Weird, spawn should be protected.
Anyways if you had one of those anomalous storms overhead it might of been a iirc corrosive squall, it basically is it's own version of Acid rain. If so then it sounds like you got supremely unlucky and might've had double acid rain pouring on you, massively stacking the damage.
Basically a non stop wave of tourists came out of the woods and every time I turned around I had a group of them about to murder me. Was a bit unnerving.
So yeah, acid rain sounds more relaxing comparatively.
Yes thanks, it was corrosive rain, with corrosive squall clouds which had a bigger radius that took over the whole map due to the lower clouds debuff. I'm not sure why my car was taking damage over time though. I didn't really get hit by the acid drops it was just the second I entered the map my entire car was taking constant damage everywhere at the same time. I think that's why all 4 tires went flat at the same time.
There are certainly mitigations, but planning is probably the best. Basically, look at your whole route and if you see something like that then don't go there. But yeah, sometimes the Zone just has it in for you. I kind of love that. It's part of what makes the Zone the Zone.
How do you do that btw? I haven't have trouble so far, cause i'm a very careful driver and i always pack spare stuff, but i would like to do that.
oh nono, that is still easy mode :P Some really bonkers conditions are the battery/gas draining weather conditions, which can also happen to be acidic on top of that. It's like running through a battlefield, the range of the acid anomalies is insane
Btw, little tip on the electric fence ambush. All of them will have an apparently inocuous wreckage nearby (it is different from others), but it is actually an anomaly. Not only this helps you to identify it, scan it, as it will open up a lot of QoL battery improvements in workshop that will very likely soften your energy needs by far
