Armor vs battery builds
Is a battery heavy build that is insulated and charges off shocks really that much better than just creating heavier armors?

Are there abilities beyond the ion shield that are worth it?

Would a battery build also make the electric engine better than gas?

If you have the power to run your ion shield, then you don't need lead plating. Acid is easy to avoid, and the lightning rod should save your from most shocks. Armor is good as it is the most of the damage you are going to take.

I ran a hybrid build and beat the game about 15 mins ago as of writting this with it. Ion shield, LIM Shield, Limpulse emitter, All armor was Armored, all terrain tires and 2nd engine with backseat extended gas tank and leak resistant battery, had a side fuel tank and a side battery. recharged battery through a single solar panel on one side and either a lightning rod or a hydro generator depeding on weather conditions or the area i was in. honestly, that covered pretty much everything, anything explosion is demolished by lim shield and anything radiation is negated by ion shield, grabbers are a thing of the past thanks to limpulse and with 115 battery capacity, i really never ran out even when i kept both shields on through the last area before the end of the game. never really had fuel issues either unless i had a run that lasted more than an hour.
i use lead-armored hybrid and it serves me well. you can pretty much avoid other types of damage except impact and radiation if you know what youre doing. of course, ion shield is a thing but you shouldnt depend on it because its easy to deprive the battery quickly unless youre willing to dip into external chargers. you'd be surprised on how long lead lined plating can hold off against yellow storm before needing repairs. of course, my car's loadout is based on the purpose of pod hunting so keep that in mind.

omg yeah. Lead plating saved me in one of my last trips. The exit point choice was simply horrible to reach, and had to endure red storm for about two minutes or so. Integrity failed toward the end but managed to leave. The car looked like that toast you burn up during breakfast but i made it :D Thank god i keep spare replacements for stuff like this...

If you have lim shield you don't need limpulse, save your bumper slot for something else like nitro or more armor.

I use lead plating on all quarter panels, armour for hood and doors, bio lights (20%-ish brighter than standard headlight i think), nitro and LIM Shield for bumpers (nearly always have LIM shield running), resource radar, XL storage on rooftop. AMP engine with 2 high cap backseat batteries, 2 wind turbines, hydro gen and lightning rod. Off road tyres only. I carry a blowtorch (best for small repairs, i'll make putty in the field if i have to), plasma charger (this thing can recharge the 2 High Cap batteries twice) with two spare tyres and a few materials for making repairs (sealing, mechanics, electrician's kits etc.) in the trunk. I usually service the car just before passing through to the next area if I'm not in a hurry. I haven't done any POD chasing though, so i don't know how well this would perform, I'm planning to swap the resource scanner for an ION shield if/when i do.

Funny that perfect weather is the worst thing for this build.
