You can typically find a dozen or so lead shielding spots per junction so it might be worth it to focus an electronics run wherever the shielding exists.
Next to the broken down car by the safe garage, there's a computer and a TV you can shred for electronic parts.
When visiting different buildings you can sometimes find computers, phones, TVs, lab equipment, etc, that you can shred with the scrapper tool and get electronics, copper wire, and 9 volt batteries.
best places to find are in houses (youll often find TV's) and near those lead shielded data collecting outposts. they often have stacks of lab computers and recievers you can scrap
As I recall 0-1 pieces per old tech is pretty common for the radio and tv. I HAVE seen a single newer model television at a random gas station that dropped around 10 electronics and copper wire, I believe.
Your best bet for bulk are lab computers and receivers. ARDA trailers have them sometimes but theyre practically guaranteed at lead shielding sites.
Houses and other buildings contain equipment to break down, this is where I got loads of electronics/plastic.
Then there is the other things mentioned ;) Dumpster is a last resort/something for free loot every time you return to garage. When you get the Pneumatic locker upgrades you no longer have to think about storage room and collecting everything quickly becomes a key strategy. So collecting the free and breaking down what you see in buildings is the best bet for electronics early on.
I run out of Plastic and Fabric the most (as you craft Outfits and Devices/Parts). Everything else is easier once you see where things come from, and loot can be very low or high (check the planner for resources, time, levels of hazards etc).
i never have enough fabric! at first i thought i would run out of chemicals the fastest but then i discovered pneumatic storage
Why? You don't need to go directly to each story mission. You can drive to random places in the zone.
Then this is some sort of bug. You can go back to the same places as many times as you like.
Sorry this is probably misleading. You can only click on new places on the map in the workshop to scan but once you leave the workshop you can drive to where ever you want once you are driving. The map in the workshop has nothing to do with where you end up driving to.
Scanning can only be done on junctions with gateways. If you hover over a junction and it says "No Stable exits" OR "Deadend" (do not enter a dead end btw) then you cannot scan it. No Stable Exit means there's a junction past it that does have a gateway and you can scan that, it'll scan all junctions leading up to the one you scanned.
Electronics are gotten by mainly scrapping certain things like TV, computer equipment, a phone, etc. They'll highlight when you mouse over them then you just scrapper them.
You don't have to do the main story quest constantly, you can freely explore any other routes and I actually recommend you do this, if you make it to a junction at the end of a path you'll likely unlock another junction past it once you return to the garage. Keep doing these runs and you'll find you get a big ol spider web of junctions that all lead progressively into the zone. Be wary of dead ends though, as said do not enter them, its death unless a stabilizer is in them which you can never know if there is one.
