is there any point using any of the other power sources if i have one of these guys? they seem far more effective since every area is pretty much guaranteed to have anchor energy worth grabbing

Never tried it myself, does it drain the kLim you acquire that's needed to leave? If so there could be potential risks there.

Aside from keeping your abilities tab clean and not having to shuffle back and forth between them if you have 4 others you actually use, I don't think so. Challenge and the achievement, I guess?

I mean it would probably slow your runs down a bit if you're focusing late game junctions but if you've got everything unlocked already I guess it doesn't matter.

Yes there is definitely that risk. You would most likely have to grab stable/unstable on the way to ensure you're not dipping too far into the tank to get out.
